Community Programs Educator

The Community Programs Educator will be responsible for: leading and managing health/safety education programs and initiatives, overseeing and developing partnerships, promoting health/safety education services throughout the region, and for collaborating with their leadership on strategic goals and outreach opportunities. This role does allow for flexibility with hours, depending on education session needs.

Travel to partners is required, approx 70% of time, to local schools and community partners. Evening and Weekend Hours may be required to support programming needs.

Responsibilities:

• Assesses community needs to determine appropriate health/safety education programs (i.e, Injury Prevention, hygiene.
• Coordinates health/safety education through schools, community programs, media, presentations, events, health fairs, and other requests made to the department responsible for the work (i.e., Injury Prevention, Community Health
• Designs and implements appropriate evaluation tools to determine program effectiveness.
• Maintains a system to collect, analyze and report information on programs presented, materials distributed, and contacts made throughout service area.
• Provide regular reports on education efforts and manages the logistical support of education events
• Manages health/safety education program delivery to public health agencies, community organizations, general public and health care providers.
• Recruits and trains volunteer health/safety educators from a variety of organizations.
• Represents department at community events and in professional organizations, committees, conventions, and other events as needed.
• Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Science, Education, or a related field.
• Two (2 years of experience in healthcare, public health education, community outreach or related experience.
• Experience working with diverse audiences, especially children through community outreach.
• Must be able to travel throughout the region (western Pennsylvania.
• Must be able to lift at least 30 lbs.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• Driver's License
• Act 31 / Act 33 / Act 34 / Act 73 with renewal
