Job Summary
Plans, supervises, and participates in the preparation of press releases and follows up on the same to ensure community awareness of all year-round service programs utilizing air, print and social media; develops informational brochures; creates, writes and coordinates the production of TSA TMAC Tulsa newsletter; assists all local Officers whenever and wherever public information and/or photography services are needed.
Plans, administers, evaluates, and monitors the marketing donor development program, and direct mail campaigns, including localizing all appeal letters to donors.

Community Relations (60%)
Plans, supervises, and participates in the preparation of press releases and media relationships to ensure community awareness of year-round service programs utilizing air and print and digital media for maximum positive publicity. Follow up with stewardship of media inclusion with thank you notes, copies of articles to people included and other ideas.
Updates and maintains Army's presence and effectiveness on all social media platforms; including newsletters, direct mail, assigned campaign events and donor relations.
Implements, administers, and sustains a marketing plan for The Salvation Army's Tulsa Metropolitan Area Command; develops, plans, and conducts appropriate public awareness activities in support of The Salvation Army's Tulsa Metropolitan Area Command.
Provides content and photographs of events and programs to be used in newsletters, brochures, and other
Salvation Amy publications, such as the Southern Spirit; maintains a current photo library of all year-round services.
Develops and writes copy for all brochures, newsletters, mailings, fliers and other print publications; follows up publications to completion of printing; sends copies of photos to anyone included in pictures of these publications with a personal appreciation note.
Develops and implements a year-round Salvation Army Awareness and Advocacy Campaign, including developing presentations, initiating contact with civic groups, companies, schools and churches to schedule presentations, and public speaking.
Plans, develops, coordinates and monitors all Salvation Army publicity.
Updates and maintains Army's website.
Attends Advisory Board/Committee meetings and other Salvation Army functions; takes photos as required and develops local promotional plans; makes presentations to the advisory boards and committees as necessary.
Assists all local Officers wherever and whenever public information and photography services are needed; arranges interviews on special public information programs for the Area Commander and other Officers throughout the year.
Designs and prepares the Annual Report and marketing materials.
Development (30%)
Plans, develops, coordinates, and monitors details associated with special fund-raising and campaigns; identifies the necessary resources, equipment, and personnel.
Advocate for and provide awareness of The Salvation Army programs on social media platforms.
Monitor social medial platforms and react to any misinformation or issues which may have a negative impact on the organization.
Identify current and upcoming trends on social media platforms to better adapt to the social media changes overtime so the organization is able to maintain and provide better community outreach opportunities.
Assist with I-Remit & interchange white mail updates.
Assists the Director of Development with researching and analyzing the local market to determine appropriate fund-raising vehicles and frequency of same necessary to generate maximum level of donations to meet arid surpass goal objective.
Coordinates and participates in donor relations, including supervision of the year-round mail appeals and consultation on mailing schedules arid packet preparation.
Develops and coordinates the operation of fund-raising mail appeals; identifies new and inventive methods of increasing direct mail income working closely with mailing service firms to ensure productivity, effectiveness and efficiency.
Supports fund-raising events and programs and monitors the progress in reaching the monetary goal.
Brainstorms creative ideas to promote The Salvation Army and increase donations.
Maintains an effective working relationship with the Divisional Development Director, Resource Development Director, and Planned Giving Director by referring leads and sharing information that may enhance the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the Area Command fund raising efforts; maintains awareness of Planned Giving Programs to recognize donor prospects.
Maintains up-to-date awareness of the latest fund-raising ideas and recommends the same into the Area Command fund-raising plans and strategies.
Other Responsibilities (10%)
Attends civic, chamber and United Way activities as requested.
Serves as Disaster Public Information Officer when needed.
Assists with Christmas-related fundraising activities and help identify opportunities.
Gives tours of our Salvation Army properties as requested.
Works with Director of Development to develop local promotional plans; conducts presentations when needed.
Performs other related work as requested by the Area Commander.

Physical Requirements
Ability to meet attendance requirements.
Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
Ability to speak before large groups in person, by radio and television.
Ability to travel to various locations in order to participate in public meetings, conferences, etc.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in a normal office environment where there are little or no physical discomforts associated with changes in weather or discomforts associated with noise, dust, and the like. Duties are usually performed seated. Sitting may be relieved by brief or occasional periods of standing or walking.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Public Relations, Communications or related field, AND three years' experience performing public relations and fund-raising functions through all forms of media with experience as a guest speaker, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
