The Community Relations Representative servesas Oglethorpe Power's face in the communities where we operate; building trust, strengthening relationships, and supporting our role as a responsible corporate citizen.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys being out in the field, connecting with people, and representing an organization in public settings. You'll work closely with local leaders, Member Cooperatives, and internal partners to support community engagement efforts and ensure strong relationships across OPC's footprint.
What You'll Do
Represent Oglethorpe Power in local communities, attending events such as chamber meetings, school programs, and civic engagements
Build and maintain relationships with elected officials, business leaders, educators, nonprofit partners, landowners, and community stakeholders
Serve as a primary point of contact for residents and landowners with questions related to OPC facilities
Partner with the 38 Member Electric Cooperatives (EMCs) to coordinate outreach, communication, and community programs
Support and evaluate charitable giving efforts within asset communities, aligning with company priorities and budgets
Coordinate and support plant tours, outreach programs, and External Affairs events, including logistics and planning
Assist with company-sponsored events such as the annual charity golf tournament and other community initiatives

Education & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications, Public Relations, Public Policy, or a related field preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience in community relations, government relations, public relations, economic development, or a related field
Experience working with or within electric utilities, cooperatives, or rural communities is a plus, but not required
Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience will be considered
Skills & Knowledge
Strong communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation)
Ability to build and maintain effective relationships across diverse groups
Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
Proficiency with standard computer applications and tools
Ability to work independently while coordinating with internal teams
Comfort with a field-based role requiring up to 50% travel, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional overnight stays
