Job Overview: Performs general public safety work consisting of protecting the Health, Welfare and Safety of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC). This includes protecting the property (Air/Soil/Water), maintaining order, preventing crimes, and enforcing ordinances, passed by the SMSC General Council. The basic responsibilities include assisting the SMSC Community, SMSC Conservation Officer, police officers, public, and other SMSC staff by performing a variety of public relations technical, clerical, and manual activities related to law enforcement functions which do not require peace officer status. The Community Service Officer (CSO) will also perform related duties as required. This position works within the framework of the policies, ordinances and resolutions of the SMSC Community as well as applicable state and federal laws.
