The Position
Community Services Officers (CSO) perform a diverse range of field and office duties focused on public safety and community service. This role does not require peace officer training or authority, making it an ideal entry point for individuals dedicated to fostering community engagement and resolving issues in a collaborative manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Sheriff's Office and other County personnel to tackle a variety of challenges related to problem resolution, community education, technical assistance, code and regulation enforcement, and grounds and facility security.
- Work independently or in teams to address community needs and deliver quality services to enhance public safety and well-being.
- Engage with community members and build meaningful relationships to better understand and address local concerns effectively.
There are currently two part-time Community Services Officer vacancies in the Sheriff’s Office’s Millbrae Police Bureau. Depending on qualifications, the positions may be filled at either the CSO I or CSO II level.
CSO I ($31.64 - $39.57/hr.) is the entry-level classification of the series, and employees in this class are expected to work within a framework of established procedures and are expected to perform a wide variety of routine and standardized duties under general supervision.
CSO II ($34.50 - $43.12/hr.)
is the full, journey-level classification in the series and is technically proficient in performing their assigned duties at a high level of independence and under minimal supervision. This class is distinguished from the entry-level for performing the more difficult, complex or specialized assignments.
