General Job Summary: Plan, direct, or coordinate the activities of clients served using campus and community outreach programs. Coordinates with clinical services and program director(s) on policies regarding participant involvement, program requirements, and benefits. The Community Support Specialist functions as a case manager for our clients with serious emotional disturbances and mental disorders. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, supporting, developing and/or applying the treatment/service plan and facilitating compliance. Serves as a member of appropriate interdisciplinary treatment team. The Community Support Specialist reports to the Clinical Director

  • Customer and Personal Service- Knowledge of principles and processes for providing clients with personal services. This includes client needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of client satisfaction.
  • Psychology- Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Therapy and Counseling- Knowledge of principles, methods, and procedures for diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical and mental dysfunctions, and for career counseling and guidance.
  • Assisting and Caring for Others- Providing personal assistance, medical attention, emotional support, or other personal care to others such as coworkers, customers, or patients.
  • Communicating with Supervisors, Peers, or Subordinates- Providing information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Getting Information- Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, Social Work or a related field required;
  • Previous experience in a mental health setting preferred.
  • Provisional Certification thorough the Department of Mental Health (PCCSS) must be acquired and presented to human resources within 30 days of hire.
