Please note this position is 3.5 hours per week Wednesdays 10:00 AM-1:30 PM only. We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Community Support Staff to provide personalized care and assistance to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autistic adults, in community-based and in-home settings. The ideal candidate will support individuals with daily activities, ensure their safety, and encourage independence while maintaining a respectful and nurturing environment. This role is vital in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with diverse support needs. Prior experience in home & community care, assisted living, or long-term care is highly valued. All positions are paid and require a commitment to providing exceptional, person-centered support.
Responsibilities
Encourage and support individuals in developing independence with daily routines and life skills
Provide guidance and supervision during in-home and community-based activities
Observe and report changes in an individual’s behavior, progress, or overall well-being to appropriate team members
Promote community engagement, socialization, and participation in meaningful activities
Provide companionship and emotional support to build confidence and self-advocacy skills
Maintain a safe and supportive environment during all services
Assist individuals with mobility or transfers as needed using approved techniques or assistive devices
Accurately document services provided, progress, and observations in compliance with agency and program guidelines
Transport individuals from their homes to community locations to support independence, appointments, and community involvement
Follow all agency protocols and provide individualized support tailored to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
Qualifications
Prior experience supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including autism, preferred
Experience working with autistic adults or individuals with intellectual disabilities is a plus
Strong communication skills and patience when working with diverse populations
Compassionate attitude with a commitment to providing respectful, person-centered care
Ability to work independently or as part of a team in community-based settings
Must have a reliable, insured personal vehicle suitable for transporting individuals
Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
Ability to safely transport individuals to and from their homes and community locations
Willingness to use personal vehicle for work-related travel in accordance with agency policies
