Community Support Staff - Penfield

Overview:

Want to work alongside 4 great guys that live in their home in the Penfield area?  This is a great opportunity for you!! 

 

One guy loves pretty much everything and is happy pretty much all of the time. He is ready and willing to go out and about to do just about anything at any time

(although sports are not really his preferred thing) He has a pretty busy week- goes to the JCC 4x /week and horseback riding 1x/week

 

One loves movies and shows- more along the lines of "milder" things such as Disney or a comedy sitcom. He can be more reclusive and may need someone asking him if he'd like to come out of his room to hang out. He also likes going out to events and shows, musicals. 

 

One is very big on all sports. He loves the Yankees and Buffalo Bills. He watches every game that is available to watch on tv. When there isn't one available, he'll find another team or sport to watch. He also loves to go out and about for pretty much anything at any time, and especially loves going out to buy a drink (usually a Coke)  

 

And the last one takes a little longer to warm up, but loves movies, tv shows, and video games. He may just want you to sit with him while he plays the video game, or join in and participate. He's also a football fan, but will enjoy going out to most sporting events. He also likes going to the movies and out to dinner. 

 

 

FT position schedule:

Sunday- 12am-8am

Monday- 12am-8am

Wednesday- 4pm-12am

Friday- 4pm-12am

Saturday- 4pm-12am

 

PT position schedule:

Friday- 8am-4pm

Saturday- 8am-4pm

 

Pay for this position: 

$19.06 - full time 

$18.25 - part time  

 

Responsibilities:

• Provide the best level of assistance to people who are learning life skills, such as: managing money, keeping a schedule, riding the bus and more
• Support people to have meaningful relationships with friends, which may include get-togethers, phone calls and more
• Assist with medical needs including monitoring health, administering medication and getting to the doctor
• Drive people to and from their appointments

 

Working Conditions:

Community Support staff work in a changing environment that adjusts to the needs of the people served. The environment may be fast paced with interruptions, distractions and deadlines. Direct support staff need to be flexible and be able to adjust to changing needs or activities. Depending on the needs of people served, the work can be physically demanding including transferring or supporting people with mobility needs, lifting or moving items up to 50 pounds and walking or standing for extended periods of time.

 

 

Qualifications:

• A valid driver license with a record of responsible driving and reliable transportation
• Strong communication skills
• A high school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to use a computer efficiently
• Experience working with people who have an intellectual or developmental disability is preferred
• Ability to assist people with intimate personal care, as needed

 

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above range represents the organization's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting
