The San Mateo County Sheriffs Office has an exciting opportunity to work with the Community Alliance to Revitalize Our Neighborhood (C.A.R.O.N.); a community based program of the San Mateo County Sheriffs Office. C.A.R.O.N.s mission is to promote healthy communities by cultivating the relationship between law enforcement and the community by empowering families with education, knowledge, and resources.
As a Community Worker in the Sheriff's Office, you will be responsible for assisting departmental staff in the Engagement Unit by performing a variety of support tasks and services. This includes recording and maintaining simple records, reading and writing in English, communicating effectively to establish good relationships with community members, and maintaining positive working relationships with others. You should also demonstrate the ability to understand and follow written and oral directions.
The Sheriff's Office Community Engagement Unit is looking to fill one part-time (no more than 20 hours per week) extra help Community Worker I position in the CARON Program. Fluency in Spanish and possession of a valid driver license are highly preferred.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
NOTE: This is an extra-help, at-will assignment, paid on an hourly basis. Some extra help positions are eligible for benefits under the Affordable Care Act. Extra-help workers are not guaranteed permanent status at the end of the extra-help assignment.

Community Worker I: Equivalent to graduation from high school and experience which has provided first-hand knowledge of the problems, needs, attitudes, and behavior patterns specific to the client population served within the assigned program.
