Position Summary/Purpose: Grand Canyon University (GCU) maintains relationships with nonprofit organizations identified by the IRS as 501(c)(3) by virtue of their charitable programs. The collective mission of 501(c)(3) organizations in the Phoenix Valley is to improve the quality of life for community residents or to solve particular problems related to those residents’ needs.
GCU maintains a partnership with the Phoenix Center for the Arts located at 1202 N. 3rd Street, Phoenix, AZ, 85004. The Phoenix Center for the Arts engages in community improvement initiatives including arts-based community development projects, neighborhood revitalization, and providing space for community members to engage in positive recreational activities. The CSLP student worker’s work schedule is dependent on the hours of operations and needs of Phoenix Center for the Arts; however, CSLP student workers may not work more than 20 hours per week during the academic year (i.e., fall/spring).
CSLP: This position has been reviewed and approved as Community Service as defined by 34 CFR 675.2(b). Per 34 CFR 675.2(b), community services are defined as, “Services which are designed to improve the quality of life for community residents, particularly low-income individuals, or to solve particular problems related to their need.” These services must be open and accessible to the community.
As an FWS-CSLP approved position, its services will be offered to non-GCU community members (i.e., local residents).

Primary Responsibilities /Accountabilities/ Essential Functions:
Assist in organizing and leading arts-based recreational activities that promote community engagement and well-being. Support the implementation of free and reduced-cost classes. Provide administrative and logistical support for programs addressing the welfare of the underserved populations.
