Do you enjoy helping athletes build confidence, master new skills, and work together as a team? TNT Kid’s Fitness & Gymnastics is looking for an energetic, safety-focused, and encouraging Part-Time Competitive Cheer Coach to support athletes in our competitive cheer program.

In this role, you will lead developmentally appropriate practices, teach cheerleading skills and safe progressions, prepare athletes for competition, and create a positive, high-energy environment for athletes and families.
What You’ll Do
- Plan, lead, and implement structured, age-appropriate practices for assigned competitive cheer teams.
- Teach cheerleading fundamentals, including motions, jumps, dance, stunting, tumbling, transitions, formations, performance quality, routine execution, and competition readiness.
- Teach safe skill progressions and provide appropriate spotting, supervision, and instruction consistent with TNT procedures, coaching qualifications, and applicable cheer safety standards.
- Assist with developing, teaching, cleaning, and performing competition routines and choreography.
- Help athletes build skill, confidence, teamwork, discipline, resilience, and a positive competitive mindset.
- Evaluate athlete skills and readiness, provide constructive feedback, and communicate athlete-development needs to the Competitive Cheer Department Manager.
- Maintain active supervision of athletes and consistently enforce TNT safety expectations, gym rules, equipment-use requirements, and incident-reporting procedures.
- Build positive, professional relationships with athletes, parents/guardians, coworkers, and TNT leaders.
- Participate in athlete evaluations, parent conferences, practices, team meetings, competitions, special events, and athlete-progress discussions as assigned.
- Complete attendance, skill tracking, evaluations, incident documentation, and other required program records.
- Assist with equipment setup, inspection, cleaning, gym reset, and closing responsibilities.
- Stay informed about TNT events, team schedules, competition requirements, policies, procedures, and program updates.
- Maintain all required certifications, training, professional memberships, and background-screening clearances.

- Strong communication, teamwork, customer-service, dependability, and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, active gym environment and adapt to changing athlete, team, staffing, event, and competition needs.
- The ability to work assigned practices, meetings, competitions, special events, parent conferences, and travel schedules reliably.
- The ability to obtain and maintain all required certifications, training, professional memberships, and background-screening clearances.
Experience is helpful but not required. TNT will support the right candidate with required training, safety expectations, coaching development, and certifications.
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
- Previous competitive cheerleading coaching experience.
- Former competitive cheerleader, dancer, tumbler, gymnast, or athlete with stunting experience.
- Experience teaching stunts, tumbling, jumps, dance, choreography, formations, or competitive routines.
- Current enrollment in, interest in, or completion of coursework or a degree in elementary education, physical education, exercise science, kinesiology, child development, or a related field.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification.
- Current or prior USA Cheer membership, safety certification, coaching education, or other relevant cheer credential.
- A valid driver’s license, unless the applicant is not yet legally eligible to hold one.
Certifications and Requirements
TNT will provide guidance on required training and certifications. Requirements may need to be completed before independently coaching or within a designated timeframe after hire.
- North Dakota fingerprint background check.
- CPR/First Aid/AED certification for adults, children, and infants.
- Concussion-awareness training.
- USA Cheer membership and applicable coach requirements.
- Athlete-protection training, background screening, safety and risk-management training, waiver completion, and agreement to the applicable USA Cheer member code of conduct.
- Any additional certifications, training, or clearances required by TNT, governing bodies, or applicable law.
Schedule and Travel
- Practices generally occur during weekday afternoons and evenings.
- Weekend availability may be required for competitions, showcases, camps, clinics, special events, team activities, and parent conferences.
- Travel may be required for competitions and other program events.
- Actual schedules vary based on team assignments, enrollment, practice schedules, events, competitions, and program needs.
Physical Requirements
This is an active role. Coaches demonstrate cheerleading, dance, tumbling, and stunting skills; actively supervise and spot athletes; and move throughout the gymnasium during practices and events. The position may require setting up, moving, adjusting, and storing mats, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
Coaches work in a fast-paced, active environment with frequent interruptions, elevated noise levels, changing priorities, and continuous interaction with athletes, families, and staff.
