General Description of the Position
This position will assist with ensuring that the department remains committed to quality improvement and improvement of internal compliance policies. The Compliance Administrator is responsible for tasks within RFA, which includes ensuring that the department complies with relevant laws, regulations and internal guidelines. Duties will include serving as the compliance contact for grants and contract functions as well as portfolio management. The incumbent in this position will serve as Restricted Funds Accounting liaison with respect to performing various functions of Financial Management, Project Management, Act as a Liaison between other Universities or internal departments within the university. The person in this position reports to the Director of Accounting and, as such, may coordinate the activities of lower-level employees. This position is responsible for establishing daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual department goals/priorities. This includes administering policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations. These decisions require good judgment and the understanding of sponsored/grant regulations. Poor judgment or failure to meet requirements could result in significant fines, sanctions, or other penalties for the University. Grant compliance is important for organizations that rely on government funding because it helps ensure that funds are used effectively and prevents misuse. It also helps organizations maintain a good reputation and stay in good standing with the government.
