Our Client, an American Biotechnology company, is looking for a Compliance Analyst 1 for their Sunnyvale, CA location.
Responsibilities:
Restricted Party Screening & Due Diligence
Review and adjudicate restricted party screening alerts generated through automated and manual screening processes.
Conduct research on companies, individuals, ownership structures, corporate affiliations, and business relationships to support screening determinations.
Perform enhanced due diligence reviews on suppliers, customers, distributors, freight forwarders, research institutions, and other third parties.
Prepare clear, concise, and well-supported written analyses documenting screening outcomes and recommendations.
Data Analysis & Compliance Monitoring
Analyze large data sets to identify trends, anomalies, and potential trade compliance risks.
Support periodic compliance reviews of transactions, customer populations, third-party relationships, and business activities.
Validate and reconcile compliance-related data across multiple systems and databases.
Develop reports and metrics that support monitoring of compliance program effectiveness.
Assist with dashboard development, reporting automation, and data quality initiatives.
Research & Investigations
Conduct detailed research into corporate ownership structures, beneficial ownership, and complex business relationships.
Validate customer, supplier, and third-party information using public and commercial research tools.
Support investigations involving unusual transactions, high-risk jurisdictions, sensitive end uses, or complex routing scenarios.
Perform deep-dive research and gather information to resolve identity verification and ownership questions.
Summarize findings and provide risk-based recommendations for business stakeholders and compliance leadership.
Compliance Documentation & Recordkeeping
Ensure external business partners adhere to implemented compliance requirements, such as timely and accurate submission of Proofs of Delivery, End User Statements, and other documents.
Maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready compliance records in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Organize and manage screening documentation, due diligence files, approvals, classifications, and supporting evidence.
Support internal audits, external audits, compliance reviews, and regulatory inquiries.
Ensure compliance records are properly indexed, retained, and readily retrievable.
Contribute to continuous improvement of documentation processes and recordkeeping standards.
Program Support & Process Improvement
Assist in maintaining compliance procedures, work instructions, and training materials.
Support implementation of compliance tools, workflows, and process improvements.
Participate in special projects related to sanctions compliance, export controls, due diligence, and trade compliance operations.
Collaborate with Legal, Procurement, Logistics, Finance, and other business functions to support compliance objectives.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in International Business, Supply Chain, Political Science, Intelligence Studies, Criminal Justice, Business Analytics, Economics, Information Systems, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in trade compliance, regulatory or legal support, due diligence, risk management, investigations, regulatory compliance, customs, export controls, sanctions screening, financial crime prevention, corporate research, or a related analytical function.
Experience in investigative research, skip tracing, or similar entity research.
Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data analysis techniques.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated history of accuracy and attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting export control or sanctions compliance programs.
Experience with restricted party screening platforms, due diligence databases, or business intelligence tools.
Familiarity with public records research, corporate registry research, or beneficial ownership analysis.
Experience developing reports, dashboards, or metrics using Power BI or similar tools.
Knowledge of global trade regulations, sanctions programs, or compliance frameworks.
Experience working in a highly regulated industry.
