Summary:



The Test & Validation / Compliance Engineering Manager will lead all global test, validation, certification, and compliance activities for the product range, ensuring world-class product performance, robustness, and adherence to regulatory standards.

This role is pivotal in supporting JCB Access during a major phase of growth and global footprint expansion. The position will operate across multiple facility locations to deliver test programs, oversee prototype builds, and lead virtual and physical validation activities. The manager will establish and lead the Test & Validation organization for North America.

Extensive Aerial Work Platform (AWP) experience is mandatory as the role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, platform stability, structural integrity, and overall product safety.


Key Responsibilities:



Global Test & Validation Leadership


+ Lead all test and validation activities for product lines.

+ Develop and execute complete validation plans covering structural, hydraulic, electrical, control, and stability performance.

+ Own the end-to-end validation process for both new products and updates to existing models.

+ Ensure best‑practice test methodologies, documentation, and traceability across global test teams.


Regulatory & Product Compliance


+ Ensure all Access products meet global regulatory requirements including ANSI A92, CSA B354, EN280, ISO16368, and other regional AWP standards.

+ Lead the creation, maintenance, and audit readiness of compliance documentation, technical files, and certification packages.

+ Work closely with Legal, Quality, and Product Safety teams to ensure full adherence to company compliance standards.


Prototype Build & R&D Facility Management


+ Manage and develop the prototype build facility, ensuring build quality, delivery to schedules, and alignment with engineering intent.

+ Oversee R&D workshop operations, equipment, test rigs, and prototype manufacturing capability.

+ Ensure tight coordination between engineering design, purchasing, and operations for prototype readiness and validation.


Leadership of Stability Virtual Analysis


+ Lead the Stability Virtual Analysis Engineer, ensuring accurate modelling, analysis, and prediction of machine stability behavior across all operating conditions.

+ Integrate virtual analysis outputs into validation plans, design reviews, and compliance decisions.

+ Champion simulation-driven development to reduce physical testing cycles.


Cross-Functional Collaboration


+ Partner closely with NPIP (New Product Introduction Process) teams to ensure robust validation planning from concept through launch.

+ Work with Quality, Service, and Current Product Engineering teams to investigate field issues, drive root‑cause analysis, and validate corrective actions.

+ Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering to validate production processes and ensure compliance at line build.


Establishing North American Test Capability (San Antonio)


+ Lead the creation of a new test & validation capability at the San Antonio facility.

+ Recruit, mentor, and develop a local Test & Compliance team aligned with global engineering standards.

+ Deploy global processes, test equipment, and compliance governance to the new site.


Required Qualifications & Experience:




+ Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical, mechatronics, or related engineering field.

+ Significant experience with Aerial Work Platform (AWP) products, including regulatory, stability, safety, and system performance.

+ PE registration is a must.

+ 10+ years of experience in test, validation, or compliance engineering, including leadership responsibilities.

+ Demonstrated knowledge of global AWP regulatory standards (ANSI, CE, ISO, CSA).

+ Strong experience in prototype build processes and test facility operations.

+ Ability to work across multiple global sites with extensive international travel


Preferred Qualifications:




+ Experience setting up new test facilities or leading major engineering transitions.

+ Knowledge of DFM/DFA, VA/VE methods.

+ Strong analytical background in structural, hydraulic, or stability systems.

+ High-level communication and stakeholder management skills.
