Position Summary

We are seeking a conscientious and methodical Compliance Laboratory Technician to join our compliance team. The role is responsible for performing laboratory testing, chain-of-custody documentation, quality checks and record keeping to ensure products meet applicable regulatory and internal standards. The successful candidate will work closely with laboratory management, quality and operations teams to support sampling, testing, and compliance reporting. Key Responsibilities

  • Collect, receive and log samples in line with chain-of-custody procedures, ensuring accurate labelling and traceability.

  • Perform routine and specialised analytical tests using laboratory instruments and prescribed methods, following standard operating procedures (SOPs).

  • Record, review and interpret test results, flagging out-of-specification or non-compliant results to supervision immediately.

  • Maintain laboratory equipment, perform routine calibration and cleaning, and report faults or maintenance needs promptly.

  • Prepare and maintain accurate laboratory notebooks, data logs and electronic records in accordance with regulatory and company document control requirements.

  • Support internal and external audits by providing records, test data and process explanations as required.

  • Follow health, safety and environmental procedures, including safe handling and disposal of hazardous materials and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Participate in continuous improvement activities, including updating SOPs, assisting with method validation and suggesting efficiency gains.

  • Assist with inventory control for reagents, standards and consumables to ensure testing continuity.

  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to support regulatory submissions, corrective actions and product release decisions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a relevant vocational qualification, A-levels or equivalent; degree in chemistry, biology, laboratory science or related discipline preferred.

  • Previous laboratory experience in a regulated environment (pharmaceutical, food, environmental or similar) is desirable.

  • Familiarity with laboratory techniques, instrumentation (e.g. GC, HPLC, spectrophotometry) and good laboratory practice (GLP) is advantageous.

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy when recording and reporting data.

  • Basic IT skills and experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or electronic data capture preferred.

  • Understanding of quality systems, document control and regulatory requirements relevant to compliance testing.

  • Good organisational skills, ability to prioritise tasks and work to tight deadlines.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours when required to meet testing schedules.

Physical & Safety Requirements

  • Regular standing, walking, bending and manual handling of samples and small equipment.

  • Use of appropriate PPE and adherence to laboratory safety protocols at all times.

  • Occasional lifting of boxes or equipment up to 25 kg with assistance or mechanical aid as required.

  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks that require fine motor skills and visual acuity.

Compensation & Schedule

Salary: $25 an hour

Working hours: Monday–Friday, standard laboratory shifts. Occasional extended hours may be required to meet operational needs.
