Job Description

The Import Compliance & Customs Operations Specialist supports the client  Industry, Inc. U.S. Customs team in executing import compliance and customs operational activities to ensure adherence with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations, company policies, and internal compliance requirements. This role serves as a key contributor in the day-to-day management of import transactions, customs documentation, trade data review, and regulatory compliance activities.

 

Working closely with members of the U.S. Customs team and cross-functional business partners, the Specialist assists in maintaining compliant import processes, resolving customs-related issues, supporting free trade agreement initiatives, and promoting operational efficiency across the organization. The position requires a strong understanding of current U.S. import regulations and customs processes, including USMCA certification requirements and supporting documentation.

 

The successful candidate demonstrates strong analytical skills, attention to detail, collaboration, and a proactive willingness to jump in where needed to support team goals, operational priorities, and compliance objectives.

Job Responsibilities

 

Support the U.S. Customs team in the execution of import compliance and customs operations activities.
Assist in monitoring import transactions to ensure compliance with CBP regulations and internal policies.
Support review and maintenance of tariff classifications (HTS), customs valuation information, and import documentation.
Assist with data analysis and compliance monitoring initiatives.
Investigate and support resolution of customs clearance delays, shipment holds, and entry discrepancies.
Maintain compliance documentation and support audit readiness activities.
Collaborate with Procurement, Logistics, Supply Chain, Finance, and other business functions to gather information required for customs compliance activities.
Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance compliance, operational efficiency, and data quality.
Monitor regulatory changes and escalate potential compliance concerns to U.S. Customs team leadership.

Qualifications

USMCA and Free Trade Agreement Responsibilities

Support the administration of USMCA and other Free Trade Agreement programs.
Review and maintain supplier USMCA certifications and supporting documentation.
Assist with supplier solicitation efforts and record retention requirements related to USMCA claims.
Support qualification reviews and validation of information required for preferential duty treatment.
Maintain working knowledge of USMCA certification requirements, rules of origin, and documentation standards.
Partner with internal stakeholders to identify opportunities to maximize compliant utilization of USMCA benefits.
 

Key Competencies

Knowledge of U.S. import regulations and customs processes.
Understanding of customs entry requirements, tariff classification, valuation, and country of origin principles.
Working knowledge of USMCA certification requirements and free trade agreement administration.
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience working in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Teams, Excel) preferable
Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment.
Demonstrated initiative and willingness to proactively jump in where needed to support the Siemens Industry, Inc. U.S. Customs team, business operations, and compliance objectives.
Strong customer service mindset with a commitment to operational excellence and compliance.
