Compliance Specialists at 937 Payroll serve hundreds of area business owners with their human capital management needs impacting thousands of employees.  To keep the 937 community running smoothly, Compliance Specialists help clients navigate payroll tax notices, agency correspondence, Bureau of Workers' Compensation policies, unemployment notices, payroll account issues, and other compliance-related questions.  We respond to emails, take phone calls, reply to texts, research agency issues, document resolutions, follow up quickly, communicate clearly, troubleshoot problems, offer advice, and put the client first.  We operate based on a hospitality approach and believe that the client's needs always come first.

As a Compliance Specialist, a typical day might include the following:

  • Respond to a tax notice for a local restaurant and explain the next steps to the owner.
  • Place an agency call to resolve a payroll tax account issue for a tech startup.
  • Email the owner of a lawncare company with an update on an unemployment notice.
  • Document the resolution of a tax issue so that the client and the 937 Payroll team know exactly what happened.
  • Brainstorm operational process improvements with the Vice President of 937 Payroll.

This job might be for you if:

  • You enjoy solving problems.  You love taking on difficult challenges and finding solutions.  You don't get flustered easily.  If you don't know the answer, you will research until you find it.
  • You like helping people and putting others first.  You get a sense of satisfaction in knowing you helped make someone else's day better.  You are patient and willing to listen.  Teaching someone something new makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside.
  • You pay attention to the details.  As far as you're concerned, anything worth doing is worth doing right, every single time.  You stay focused, pay attention to detail, and nothing falls through the cracks on your watch.
  • You think on your feet.  You like learning new things, and you can learn quickly.  When things change, you know how to roll with the punches.
  • You enjoy research and follow-through.  You are willing to dig into agency rules, payroll tax issues, notices, and account details.  You understand that the first answer is not always the final answer, and you keep working until the issue is resolved.
  • You communicate clearly.  You write well.  You speak eloquently.  You have a thirst for knowledge.  New technology is exciting.  You can explain just about anything to anyone, and you're comfortable communicating in writing and on the phone.
  • You are motivated and driven.  You volunteer for new challenges without waiting to be asked.  You're going to take ownership of the time you spend with us and truly make a difference.
  • To land this job, you need to have 3-5 years of experience solving problems, researching issues, communicating with clients, or working in payroll, HR, accounting, compliance, or customer service.
