Job Overview:
Join our team as a Composite Tech I, where you'll play a vital role in the fabrication of advanced composite materials used in aerospace and defense manufacturing. This position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in high-precision assembly processes, working with a variety of composite materials, and contributing to innovative projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform process fabrication activities by assembling a wide range of composite materials, including fibrous, epoxy, plastics, ceramics, and alloys.
- Build simple to complex sub-assemblies and armor panels following detailed work order guidelines, templates, and shop instructions.
- Use hand tools and power tools for cutting, trimming, grinding, and finishing composite components with precision.
- Apply and mix release agents, sealants, solvents, adhesives, and resins in compliance with safety standards and work instructions.
- Measure and verify components using instruments such as scales and calipers to ensure quality and accuracy.
- Maintain strict adherence to established quality levels and safety protocols throughout all tasks.
- Perform related tasks such as bonding, cutting, and grinding foam, plastics, and laminated materials, supporting aircraft seat cushion assembly if required.
- Handle products weighing up to 40 lbs., with proper lifting techniques and safety precautions.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors about progress and challenges.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in a production assembly or manufacturing environment, or technical schooling in related fields.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; technical institute certifications or degrees preferred.
- Proficiency with hand tools, pneumatic, and electric power tools required.
- Ability to read and interpret work instructions, blueprints, and work order specifics.
- Basic math skills for measurement and quality checks.
- Physical stamina to stand for up to 10-hour shifts in a moderate to fast-paced environment.
- Must pass a respirator physical test and be comfortable working with release agents and adhesives.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience in composite material fabrication or aerospace manufacturing highly desirable.
- Knowledge of safety procedures related to chemical handling and personal protective equipment (PPE).
