The Compounder accurately weighs, blends, and documents components used in manufacturing over-the-counter (OTC) products in a regulated production environment. This role ensures that all batching and blending activities meet established quality, safety, and sanitation standards while supporting continuous production through proper inventory monitoring and equipment upkeep.

Responsibilities

• Weigh components used in batches with a high level of accuracy to meet product specifications.
• Document all pre-weigh activities completely and correctly in accordance with established procedures.
• Prepare pre-blends for larger batches to support efficient production flow.
• Monitor batching processes to ensure thorough and correct blending of materials.
• Perform daily scale checks and calibrations to maintain measurement accuracy.
• Monitor inventory levels of components needed for batches and promptly notify the supervisor or Purchasing Department when re-orders are required.
• Complete pick tickets and transfer sheets accurately for OTC products to ensure proper tracking and traceability.
• Follow all safety rules and procedures while operating equipment and handling materials.
• Complete required sanitation tasks, including cleaning tanks, work surfaces, and equipment according to designated standards.
• Perform additional general cleaning as needed to maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Add salt to the water softener as required to support equipment operation.
• Complete all required paperwork thoroughly and accurately to support compliance and production records.
• Operate a sit-down forklift safely to move materials, components, or finished product as needed.
• For candidates starting as Preweighers if slightly underqualified for the Compounder role: read pick lists, gather ingredients, weigh empty batch cans for tare weight, add correct weights of ingredients, and stage materials for Compounders.

Essential Skills

• Minimum of 6 months of experience in compounding, batching, blending, mixing, or chemical operations.
• Experience working within a regulated industry preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Basic math skills, including the ability to work with fractions, decimals, and unit conversions.
• At least 6 months of experience in blending, mixing, or compounding.
• Sit-down forklift experience of 6 months or more.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
• Strong attention to detail for weighing, documentation, and batching activities.
• Commitment to following safety rules and sanitation standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in an OTC or similar manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with documentation requirements in regulated production settings.
• Comfort working with production equipment such as mixers, blenders, and batching systems.
• Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with production and purchasing teams.
• Willingness to perform both compounding and pre-weigh tasks as needed to support production demands.

Work Environment

This position is based in an OTC manufacturing facility that operates multiple shifts to support continuous production. Openings are available at the Mequon site on a Monday-Thursday schedule from 4:30 p.m. to 2:30 a.m. Additional shift options include a 2nd shift from 2:45 p.m. to 10:45 p.m., Monday through Friday, and a 3rd shift from 10:45 p.m. to 6:45 a.m., Monday night through Friday night. Weekend shifts are also available, including an AM weekend shift from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, and a PM weekend shift from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, where employees work 36 hours and receive pay for 40 hours. The work involves operating and working around mixing, blending, and batching equipment, as well as sit-down forklifts, within a regulated production environment. Employees follow established safety and sanitation procedures, including regular cleaning of tanks, work surfaces, and equipment. The facility environment is production-focused, with clear procedures, documentation requirements, and standards designed to support quality and compliance.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $42640.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
