Your role:
Compounder - Scent & Care - Branchburg, NJ
Compound quality fragrances using established formulas, procedures, and good manufacturing practices. The role performs process operations that may include liquid compounding, extruder production, extraction and distillation, powder blending, reactions, emulsion preparation, and spray drying.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Report to the Plant Manager or Production Supervisor for assignments, direction, and assistance.
- Work regularly with other compounders and warehouse personnel; occasionally interface with QC, Sample Lab, Maintenance, and Rabbinical Services.
- Perform daily activities needed to complete each compound, including use of automation units, accurate weighing of ingredients, machine operation, mixing and blending, labeling, and documentation.
- Perform work safely and efficiently while wearing required PPE and following odor and dust environmental control procedures.
- Maintain self, equipment, and work area in a clean and orderly manner according to good manufacturing practices.
- Complete production documentation, samples, and paperwork accurately, including SAP and Shop Floor Control requirements.
- Support TPM efforts and food safety standards such as SQF by participating in meetings and offering ideas to increase productivity and safety.
- Inform the Group Leader, Production Supervisor, or Plant Manager of food safety problems.
- Comply with Kosher, Halal, Organic, USDA, QM, and GMP requirements.
Skills & Abilities
- Ability to complete flavor or fragrance compounds and related jobs within the scope of responsibility, with appropriate supervision.
- Problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to perform the essential physical duties of the role, including handling materials up to 50 lbs as needed, with or without reasonable accommodation. Available material-handling equipment, forklifts, lifting aids, and team lifting may be used where appropriate; frequency and support may vary by area and product type.
- Verbal communication skills needed to resolve issues and communicate production information.
Safety / Regulatory Training Requirements
- As per company guidelines.
- Forklift training or certification, Hazmat training, and SAP / Shop Floor Control training as required.
Working Conditions
- Normal plant environment; may include handling hazardous materials while following required safety procedures and PPE requirements.
About you:
Knowledge and Experience Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year of experience in flavor, fragrance, food, pharmaceutical, chemical, or related manufacturing preferred.
- Mechanical aptitude to operate process equipment and understand principles of operation.
- Attention to detail and basic math skills to calculate solutions, metric conversions, and inventory reconciliation.
