Position Summary:
Hours: 7am-3pm Monday through Friday
The Compounder supports Manufacturing Operations at Energizer Holdings in Dayton, Ohio, within the Manufacturing / Operations business unit, and reports directly to the Blending Supervisor. This role is responsible for the accurate preparation, blending, and handling of chemical raw materials used in production processes. The Compounder serves as a subject matter expert across multiple blending and compounding operations and plays a critical role in equipment operation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, safety compliance, and colleague training in a fast-paced, non–temperature-controlled manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and compound batches of raw materials in accordance with approved specifications, batch records, GMP requirements, and standard operating procedures.
- Retrieve, stage, and transport raw materials and chemicals to and from inventory using forklifts and other material handling equipment in a safe and compliant manner.
- Accurately weigh, measure, and transfer chemicals using scales, pumps, gauges, and automated blending systems, applying proper gallon-to-pound conversions and related calculations.
- Safely operate, set up, change over, monitor, and troubleshoot compounding and blending equipment within a liquid/bottle-fill manufacturing environment that is not temperature controlled.
- Perform and support routine repairs, equipment changeovers, and preventive/predictive maintenance activities across three or more blending and compounding areas (e.g., Appearance batching, AC batching, Auto Blending, Fuel Blending, California scents compounding).
- Collaborate closely with Engineering, Technical, Maintenance, Quality, and Operations teams to support equipment installation, process adjustments, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Serve as a subject matter expert across multiple operations, demonstrating process mastery and providing technical guidance and hands-on training to colleagues and contractors.
- Maintain required production output while ensuring adherence to all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements, including Job Safety Analysis (JSA), Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), pinch point awareness, and proper PPE usage.
- Conduct in-process quality checks using established measuring techniques and standards, ensuring product quality and compliance.
- Maintain accurate production, quality, inventory, and maintenance records using approved systems (e.g., SAP, Master Control) and documentation practices.
- Maintain work areas, tools, and equipment in accordance with Visual Management principles and 5S standards, promptly identifying and addressing abnormalities.
- Troubleshoot equipment and process issues, perform root cause analysis, and clearly communicate findings and corrective actions to the Blending Supervisor, Maintenance, and other stakeholders.
- Actively support Lean Manufacturing and TPM initiatives by identifying waste, improving standard work, and participating in continuous improvement efforts.
- Perform physically demanding work including standing and walking for extended periods and lifting up to 60 pounds, as well as stretching, climbing, twisting, turning, pushing, pulling, reaching, and bending.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet business and operational needs.
We we are looking for:
Required Education, Skills & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 2 years of chemical mixing or relevant manufacturing experience in an industrial environment.
- Minimum of 6 months of recent forklift experience, defined as hands-on operation within the past 12 months, in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and material handling equipment to move chemicals and raw materials to and from inventory; forklift certification required or ability to obtain and maintain certification.
- Strong mechanical and technical aptitude with the ability to safely operate and maintain blending and compounding equipment.
- Ability to work in a non–temperature-controlled manufacturing environment
- Ability to safely handle hazardous materials while following chemical handling guides, SDSs, and workplace safety procedures.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow detailed written and visual instructions, technical manuals, SOPs, standard work, and batch records.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate technical issues and status updates.
- Working knowledge of structured problem-solving, root cause analysis, and corrective action methodologies.
- Ability to follow and reinforce Safety, Quality, GMP, and Standard Work procedures.
- Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications.
- Ability to perform physically demanding work, including standing and walking for extended periods and lifting up to 60 pounds, with frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, twisting, and climbing.
- Commitment to following all Safety, Health, and Environmental rules and regulations.
Preferred Education, Skills & Experience
- Experience accurately using gauges, scales, pumps, tools, and automated blending systems.
- Experience with TPM and Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and support the development of others.
- Experience creating, following, and improving standard work procedures.
- Experience using SAP for inventory transactions and work orders; familiarity with Master Control systems for batch records, SDS access, and labeling.

Total Rewards Package:
The pay rate for this position is up to USD $23.50/Hr. per hour
