Position Summary

We are seeking a Compounding Operator to support production operations in Largo, Florida. This is a hands-on manufacturing position responsible for preparing resin batches according to detailed formulations, operating compounding and blending equipment, performing routine production maintenance, inspecting finished materials, and accurately documenting production activity.

The ideal candidate is safety-focused, mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with raw materials and production equipment in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare batches of resins using detailed formulations and mix sheets, including pre-blending of materials.

• Accurately fill ribbon blenders and drum tumblers with ingredients and quantities specified on formulation sheets.

• Perform start-up, shutdown, and routine maintenance of 40mm and 60mm compounder lines and associated water systems.

• Weigh, package, and label finished products according to work-order specifications.

• Perform production maintenance on compounders, pelletizers, dryers, and water systems.

• Disassemble compounders for screen changes and screen cleaning.

• Troubleshoot equipment and production issues.

• Operate and maintain associated equipment required for compound production.

• Collect compound samples and mold ASTM slabs according to work-order requirements.

• Inspect products for visual defects and initiate appropriate corrective action when required.

• Enter production and quality information into the CMPC system.

• Complete manufacturing forms, work orders, stock movement tickets, scrap tickets, identification tags, time-reporting forms, and other required documentation.

• Communicate production status, equipment conditions, and potential issues to employees on other shifts.

• Assist with training employees on proper production techniques and procedures.

• Maintain clean, safe, and organized production areas.

• Follow all company safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment.

• Immediately report accidents, equipment issues, and unsafe conditions to management.

• Perform other production-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.

• Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.

• Ability to accurately follow detailed formulations, mix sheets, and work orders.

• Ability to properly complete production, time-reporting, and work-order documentation.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.

• Ability to work safely in an industrial production environment.

• Must be willing and able to become forklift certified.

Preferred

• Previous compounding, blending, plastics, resin, chemical, or manufacturing experience.

• Operational knowledge of compounders and related production equipment.

• Experience with injection molding machinery.

• Experience with ribbon blenders, drum tumblers, pelletizers, dryers, or similar manufacturing equipment.

• Mechanical aptitude and experience performing basic equipment troubleshooting or production maintenance.

• Previous forklift experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and walk throughout the workday.

• Ability to periodically climb stairs or steps.

• Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, and reach above shoulder height and below the waist.

• Ability to occasionally lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds using proper lifting techniques.

Work Environment

This position operates in an industrial production environment where required PPE may include hearing protection, safety glasses, and safety shoes.

Employees should be comfortable working around manufacturing and material-handling equipment, elevated noise levels, varying temperatures, and potential exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals.

Ideal Candidate

A strong candidate may have previous experience as a Compounding Operator, Batch Operator, Blender Operator, Chemical Operator, Extrusion Operator, Machine Operator, Production Operator, Plastics Operator, or Manufacturing Operator.

Candidates with hands-on experience weighing and mixing raw materials, following batch formulations, operating blending or compounding machinery, performing quality inspections, troubleshooting production equipment, and documenting manufacturing activity are especially encouraged to apply.
