Compounding Operator

Location: Largo, FL 33773
Schedule: 2nd Shift | Monday – Friday | 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM
Duration: Contract (03/24/2026 – 06/26/2026)
Pay Rate: $18.61/hr + $2.00/hr shift differential ($20.61/hr total)
Employment Type: W-2 Contract
Potential: Contract role with opportunity for full-time hire


Position Summary

The Compounding Operator is responsible for producing resin compounds that meet quality and production specifications. This role includes preparing batches using detailed formulations, operating compounding equipment, performing routine maintenance, and accurately documenting production data in ERP and quality systems.

This position plays a key role in ensuring product quality, equipment reliability, and adherence to safety and operational procedures within a manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities

Production & Batch Preparation

  • Prepare resin batches using detailed formulations and mix sheets, including pre-blending of materials.

  • Accurately load ribbon blenders or drum tumblers with ingredients and quantities specified on formulation sheets.

  • Perform start-up, shutdown, and operation of 40mm and 60mm compounding lines and associated water systems.

  • Weigh, package, and label finished products according to work order specifications.

Equipment Operation & Maintenance

  • Perform routine production maintenance on compounding equipment including compounders, pelletizers, dryers, and water systems.

  • Disassemble compounders for screen changes and cleaning.

  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and support corrective actions.

  • Operate and maintain associated equipment used in compound production.

Quality Control & Documentation

  • Sample compound and mold ASTM slabs for each work order as required.

  • Inspect products for visual defects and initiate corrective actions when necessary.

  • Enter production and quality data into the CMPC system.

  • Assist with training employees on proper compounding techniques and procedures.

  • Communicate production status, equipment issues, and operational updates to incoming shifts.

Safety & Housekeeping

  • Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with housekeeping standards.

  • Follow all safety policies and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).

  • Report accidents, hazards, or unsafe conditions immediately.

  • Complete all time reporting and production documentation including work orders, scrap tickets, stock movement tickets, and identification tags.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Ability to accurately complete production documentation and work orders.

  • Operational knowledge of injection molding machines preferred.

  • Experience operating compounders or related production equipment preferred.

  • Must obtain forklift certification.


Physical Requirements

  • Frequent walking on level surfaces throughout the workday.

  • Occasional climbing of stairs or steps.

  • Ability to stoop, kneel, and reach above shoulder height or below the waist.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally using proper lifting techniques.


Work Environment

This position operates in a manufacturing production environment. Personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety shoes is required.

The environment may include:

  • Loud noise levels

  • Varying temperatures

  • Exposure to dust, fumes, and chemicals depending on work area
