2nd Shift | Monday–Friday | 2:00 PM – 10:30 PM

We are seeking a dependable and mechanically inclined Compounding Operator to support manufacturing operations within a fast-paced production environment. This role is ideal for candidates with manufacturing, compounding, chemical mixing, plastics, extrusion, or industrial production experience who enjoy hands-on work and maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Position Overview

The Compounding Operator is responsible for producing compounded products that meet quality and production specifications while maintaining accurate process documentation within ERP and quality systems. This role supports production operations through resin batching, material blending, machine operation, troubleshooting, quality inspections, and equipment maintenance.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in a physically active manufacturing environment involving standing, bending, lifting, and handling chemicals and materials throughout the shift.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing & Production Operations

  • Produce resin batches using detailed formulations and mix sheets
  • Pre-blend materials and accurately load ribbon blenders and drum tumblers
  • Perform startup, shutdown, and operation of 40mm and 60mm compounder lines and water systems
  • Weigh, package, and label finished products according to work order specifications
  • Maintain accurate production, quality, and work order documentation
  • Enter production data into ERP and CMPC quality systems
  • Perform production activities related to mixing, compounding, forming, and drying materials

Equipment Operation & Maintenance

  • Perform routine production maintenance on compounders, pelletizers, dryers, and water systems
  • Troubleshoot processing and equipment issues
  • Disassemble compounders for screen changes and cleaning
  • Operate and maintain associated manufacturing equipment required for compound production
  • Assist with basic equipment cleaning, assembly, and operational upkeep

Quality Control & Documentation

  • Sample compounds and mold ASTM slabs according to work order requirements
  • Inspect finished products for visual defects and initiate corrective actions
  • Complete manufacturing forms, stock movement tickets, scrap tickets, identification tags, and related documentation
  • Ensure products consistently meet customer and production specifications

Teamwork, Safety & Operations Support

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and other shifts regarding production and equipment status
  • Assist with training employees on proper production techniques and procedures
  • Maintain organized work areas through housekeeping and 5S practices
  • Follow all EH&S procedures, PPE requirements, and safety regulations
  • Report unsafe conditions, accidents, or equipment concerns to management
  • Support continuous improvement and team-based manufacturing operations

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Operational knowledge of compounders and related industrial equipment preferred
  • Injection molding experience preferred
  • Ability to properly complete time reporting and production documentation
  • Forklift certification required or ability to become certified
  • Comfortable working with chemicals, resins, and industrial machinery
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Basic computer and ERP system proficiency preferred

Work Environment

  • Industrial manufacturing environment with varying temperatures
  • Exposure to dust, fumes, chemicals, and elevated noise levels
  • PPE required including hearing protection, safety glasses, and safety shoes
  • Frequent standing and walking throughout the shift
