Responsibilities: Job Summary: As a Compounding Pharmacy Technician, you'll work as part of a team that exceeds patient expectations through delivery of excellent, accurate, and efficient services. You'll measure, compound, and dispense customized medications using a variety of special equipment, formulas, and techniques.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions:

• Compounding Pharmacy Operations:

  • Receives written, refill, and third-party prescriptions; verifies complete patient information; processes in RxEVO; manages adjudication review
  • Reviews patient preferences notes (container, flavor, capsule color, etc.) on compound prescriptions
  • Reviews current and future compound orders to ensure on time and efficient delivery / pickup at correct location
  • Researches formulations for stability of the compound and the individual ingredients
  • Prior to making each compound: verifies calculations of quantities for all necessary ingredients; utilizes dimensional analysis on most compound calculations; calculates processing error as needed; accurately weighs each ingredient
  • Assembles, uses, and maintains specialized equipment (Unguator, scales, hot plate, ointment mill, etc.)
  • Compounds various non-sterile dosage forms (cream, rapid dissolve tablets, lollipops, etc.) using specialized techniques and formulas
  • Dispenses compounded medications in various devices (Topi-CLICK, Syringes, spray bottles, etc.)
  • Performs prescription assembly; hand counts controlled medications; measures liquids; reconstitutes antibiotics; verifies / labels prescriptions by 7-point check
  • Reviews medication and stock for expiration dates; appropriately processes in compliance with SOPs and as needed
  • Follows proper procedures; ensures the correct medicine is delivered to correct patient
  • Completes medical intake forms, as necessary
  • Maintains automated prescription processing equipment, including calibration, maintenance, stocking, and proper report execution
  • Applies computer troubleshooting and prescription application review
  • Processes RxIMS reports (count compliance, no-location inventory, order overrides, etc.)

• Sanitation / Compliance:

  • Washes / puts away compounding dishes; deactivates, decontaminates, and sanitizes prep areas / equipment; and sweeps / mops floor mats in compliance with SOPs and as needed
  • Properly cleans necessary surfaces, equipment, etc. in compliance with applicable regulations, H-E-B SOPs, and as needed
  • Ensures privacy and confidentiality of Personal Health Information (HPI) as required by HIPAA
  • Performs cleaning duties in the Pharmacy; takes out trash; cleans / sanitizes sales floor, display cases, shelf edge, etc.
  • Complies with and follows all H-E-B, department, and process SOPs and guidelines; complies with all safety guidelines
  • (#751 location only) Deep cleans all surfaces, including ceilings and walls, once a month as indicated by USP 800 regulations
  • (#751 location only) Performs proper handling of hazardous chemicals per NIOSH and USP 800 regulations

• Receiving / Stocking:

  • Manages UPS exceptions
  • Receives inventory and reviews for accuracy on all incoming loads; stages inventory for stocking
  • Ensures quality of incoming products by physically inspecting packaging and verifying code dates
  • Accurately stocks inventory; participates in daily return-to-stock procedures
  • Communicates vendor stock conditions / levels to appropriate parties; maintains solid Partner and vendor relations
  • Processes invoices daily; reviews incoming invoices and outgoing credits to ensure accurate completion; properly files paperwork
  • Utilizes online tools to ensure vendors are given consistent and timely credit on DSD merchandise
  • Researches / resolves unusual billing issues with the appropriate parties; escalates as necessary
  • Maintains a return goods station for all damaged product
  • Performs established product processes to assure asset protection and reduce shrink
  • Checks shipments for out-of-date / damaged products to ensure freshness and quality
  • Researches / negotiates prices with DSD vendors
  • Maintains standards in shrink, safety, inventory control, and sanitation

• Customer Service: (MARC location only)

  • Educates Patients and Partners on the process of Compounded prescriptions, cost, and delivery / pickup options
  • Maintains H-E-B Rx Screener status; participates in screening events
  • Coordinates Rx Screening events, Flu Shots, Immunizations, or other Professional Services events / programs
  • Answers customer questions regarding products; assists with selections; provides excellent customer service

• Inventory Management: (MARC location only)

  • Assists with inventory control; loads, unloads, and moves product
  • Orders all necessary products from DSD vendors, as needed (supplies, equipment, ingredients, etc.)
  • Utilizes H-E-B Symbol and SRS applications; follows the 8-step process
  • Executes all new item placement and Store-assigned category updates
  • Assigns a Product Shelf Assignment (PSA) to all plan-o-gram items and displays
  • Properly sets up plan-o-grams; audits to ensure accuracy
  • Ensures ad, price, and item sign accuracy
  • Builds, stocks, maintains, and takes down store displays
  • Ensures integrity of shelf tags and signage in department; prepares tags as needed

• Cash Handling / Financial Functions: (MARC location only)

  • Keeps records of financial transactions for the Pharmacy; ensures the funds balance
  • Assists with consignment inventories
  • Prepares, verifies, checks, and maintains all store accounting functions
  • Assists with ordering and maintaining Cash Office supplies and forms
  • Performs all necessary terminal and bank readings
  • Researches and resolves any store accounting variances
  • Assists with resolving electronic maintenance / terminal issues
  • Prepares and reconciles tills

  • Experience as a Pharmacy Technician -
