Role: Computational Scientist

Pay Rate: $47.23 - $62.94/hour + Benefits

Schedule: Monday through Friday (Weekend work as needed)

About the Role
Research and Early Development (gRED) is seeking a highly motivated Computational Scientist to join the Li Lab, Geiger-Schuller Lab, and Regev Lab. In this role, you will leverage advanced computational methods to generate actionable insights from high-content perturbation screens using ex vivo systems. You will work with cutting-edge sequencing technologies and collaborate with multidisciplinary research teams to accelerate scientific discoveries and support the development of innovative therapies.
 
Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze large-scale, high-content sequencing-based perturbation datasets.
  • Apply computational approaches to multi-conditional perturbation data, including technologies such as Sci-Plex, Perturb-seq, and CROP-seq.
  • Develop and implement data analysis pipelines using Python and statistical modeling techniques.
  • Collaborate with biologists, chemists, data scientists, and cross-functional research teams to interpret experimental data.
  • Present findings and contribute to scientific discussions that support drug discovery and development.
  • Stay current with emerging computational biology methodologies and contribute to innovative research initiatives.
 
Required Qualifications
 
Education
  • PhD in a quantitative discipline such as Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or Mathematics, or a PhD in Biology, Chemistry, or another life or physical science with a strong quantitative background.
 
Experience
  • Proven experience analyzing large-scale, multi-conditional single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) datasets.
  • Demonstrated interest in applying computational approaches to biological and chemical research for therapeutic discovery.
 
Technical Skills
  • Strong scientific programming skills in Python.
  • Solid foundation in statistics, probabilistic modeling, and computational data analysis.
  • Experience working with large-scale biological datasets and sequencing data.
 
Soft Skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
 
Research
  • Strong publication record demonstrating scientific contributions and participation in the research community.
 
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience analyzing Perturb-seq, CROP-seq, or other CRISPR-based screening datasets.
  • Experience integrating multimodal datasets, including clinical or patient-derived data.
  • Familiarity with workflow management tools such as Nextflow or Snakemake.
  • Hands-on experience working in High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments using SLURM.
  • Experience with scalable computational workflows for genomics or transcriptomics data analysis.
