    Compute Engineering Lead

    BAM is building a world-class on-premises compute platform for its investment professionals and is looking for an engineering manager to own the compute infrastructure pieces of this. This senior, hands-on leader will own compute architecture, implementation and governance. This role offers the opportunity to work directly with Portfolio Managers and other business stakeholders to understand their needs and enable them to efficiently use on-premises compute resources.

    As the Compute Engineering Lead at BAM, you will:

    • Be the hands-on manager and leader of compute infrastructure.
    • Scale and harden our compute infrastructure to provide a robust and resilient environment for researchers and investment professionals.
    • Leverage both open and closed source software solutions.
    • Partner with application developers across the firm and enable their success.
    • Participate in on-call rotation and maintenance.

    Core Tech Stack:

    • Kubernetes on bare metal Linux.
    • RPM-based Linux distro.

    To be considered a good technical fit, you must have:

    • 10+ years, hands-on experience with large-scale compute environments.
    • Experience with software low latency environments.
    • 5+ years people management experience.
    • Expert knowledge of Kubernetes from the infrastructure and application points of view.
    • Experience managing bare metal compute at scale.
    • IP network performance tuning and routing experience.
    • Comfortable writing Python.
    • Experience with disaster recovery and business continuity planning.

    With respect to NY, CA, and IL based applicants, the starting base pay range for this role is between USD 200000 and USD 300000 annually. The actual base pay is dependent upon several factors, including, but not limited to, relevant experience, business needs and market demands. This role may also be eligible for bonus compensation and employee benefits.
