Role Overview
The Computer Operations Manager leads and coordinates daily operations for technical staff, overseeing project scheduling, monitoring, system availability, and incident response. This position is responsible for driving operational excellence, managing IT asset lifecycles, maintaining service desk performance, and ensuring compliance with internal policies, security standards, and service level agreements (SLAs).
Key Responsibilities
Manage daily technical team activities, project scheduling, monitoring, ticket resolution, and incident response.
Oversee the deployment, configuration, and lifecycle management of IT assets, including desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, and servers.
Lead, mentor, and evaluate a team of supervisors, project leaders, and technical staff, including training and succession planning.
Develop, implement, and enforce operational standards, best practices, and IT service management processes (incident, problem, change, and request management).
Monitor system performance and service desk operations to ensure timely issue resolution and high customer satisfaction.
Plan and coordinate the integration of new technologies, enterprise-wide software rollouts, updates, and patch management activities.
Provide advanced hands-on computer, user, network, and telephony support, including hardware/software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
Collaborate with infrastructure and application teams for seamless system deployment and support.
Provide input on business continuity planning and disaster recovery strategies.
Travel to remote locations to resolve IT issues and deploy resources as required.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum of 7 years of IT work experience with exposure to multi-platform environments.
Proven capability in team leadership, workload organization, and IT service delivery management.
Strong foundational skills in problem-solving, critical thinking, decision-making, and quality assurance principles.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills across diverse audiences and project teams.
Demonstrated customer service focus and interpersonal skills in managing client and user relationships.
Additional Details
Education: Associate's or Bachelor's Degree or technical institute degree/certificate in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
Work Schedule: Standard hours flexible between 7:00 AM and 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday, operating on a regular, rotational, or on-call schedule.
Travel: Requires 25% to 40% travel between locations.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, squat, stoop, push, crawl, and bend in all weather conditions.
