Computer Repair Technician – Retail & E-Commerce Associate

Job Type: Full-Time.
Pay: $16–$22 per hour, depending on experience.
About Us:
Keeper of the Grumper Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization focused on electronics recycling, refurbishment, responsible reuse, and secure data destruction. We also support youth leadership and community programs through our recycling and resale operations.
We are looking for a Computer Repair Technician – Retail & E-Commerce Associate to join our team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with computers and electronics, troubleshooting technical problems, and helping turn donated equipment into quality products for resale.
Job Responsibilities:
Computer Repair & Refurbishment:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, and other electronics.
- Test computer hardware and identify defective components.
- Replace or repair components such as RAM, hard drives/SSDs, batteries, and other parts.
- Install and configure operating systems and drivers.
- Prepare computers for resale.
- Perform basic hardware and software troubleshooting.
- Test and wipe computers before they are listed for sale.
- Follow company procedures for Windows installation and equipment testing.
- Properly document problems and repair results.
E-Commerce & Product Listings:
- Photograph electronics for online listings.
- Create accurate and detailed product descriptions.
- Research product specifications and model information.
- List products accurately on online marketplaces.
- Maintain accurate inventory records.
Retail Operation:
- Assist customers with the donation of their electronics and computer-related items.
- Maintain an organized and clean retail area.
- Assist with receiving, sorting, testing, pricing, and displaying merchandise.
- Assist with answering the phone.
- Provide friendly and professional customer service.
Electronics Recycling:
- Sort electronics for resale, refurbishment, parts, or recycling.
- Identify equipment that has resale or refurbishment potential.
- Properly handle recyclable electronics.
- Follow company procedures for data-bearing equipment.
- Assist with loading and unloading electronics, when needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Basic knowledge of computers and electronics.
- Ability to troubleshoot common computer hardware and software problems.
- Comfortable working with Windows & Apple operating systems.
- Good attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable and dependable.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to lift and move electronics and equipment, including TV's.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 50–75 lbs. and perform physical warehouse tasks.
- Positive attitude, reliability, and a willingness to learn.
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
- Must pass a background check.
Preferred:
- Previous computer repair or IT experience.
- Experience building or upgrading computers.
- Experience with online marketplaces.
- Experience with product photography and online listings.
- CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar certification.
- Experience diagnosing laptop and desktop hardware.
Pay & Benefits:
- $16–$22 per hour.
- Pay will depend on experience, technical skills, and qualifications.
