Computer Services Coordinator
The primary responsibility is the maintenance of the company’s computer technology assets, which support the various departments or projects within Gilmour Academy. The IT coordinator sets up systems for updating software applications and operating systems in use, as well as frequent redundant backups of necessary development or procedural work.
The IT coordinator handles aspects of training on a company’s software and computer systems. This can include group presentations, as well as one-on-one training. Additionally, the coordinator often advises management on whether an organization's software choices are sound, and they must be aware of new developments in the marketplace that can assist the technological security and efficiency of a company.
This position normally works during regular business hours. However, the requirements for various installations, training, and the potential need for around-the-clock “up time” for a company’s computer assets may put the IT coordinator “on call” at all hours of the day or night in the case of emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
Provision, maintain, and support PCs, applications, and peripherals
Provide network and email privileges and access for users as needed
Maintain inventory and asset management of all hardware, software, and documentation.
Research new hardware and software offerings
Record department Purchases
Plan for responsible disposal of used equipment
Advise on hardware/software contract or warranty
Manage online technology reservations systems and handle special equipment requests
Provide distance learning support and equipment. Create and maintain optimized images
Qualifications & Skills:
Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or similar role - experience in K-12 or higher education is a plus
Proficiency in PC setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance
Familiarity with network administration, user access management, and email systems
Knowledge of software deployment, system imaging, and backup solutions
Strong communication skills with the ability to train non-technical staff
Ability to research and evaluate technology products and make sound recommendations to the Network Administrator and school administrators (when appropriate)
Experience supporting classroom AV or educational technology platforms is a plus
