Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
Physical Demands: Concession facilities include (but are not limited to) front and back of the house locations at hotels, commercial kitchens, restaurants, retail facilities, warehouses, employee housing, stable operations, marinas, and assigned landscapes. While some work is performed in an office setting, the position requires familiarity with park resources and concession facilities and services which may include may require hiking on park backcountry trails, overnight stays in the backcountry which require carrying a heavy backpack, horseback riding, bicycling, rafting, extensive walking, etc. There may be some requirements to travel on water vessels and small aircraft. A current drivers license may be required.
Work Environment: For work conducted in the office environment, the risks include those typically found in an office environment. Normal safety precautions typical of such places should be observed (e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls,). Travel within and away from the park area may be necessary and frequent in order to provide support for the program for the purpose of attending meetings, training programs, conferences, and site visits. For work conducted in the field, the risks involve those typical for visitors of the Park, and may include confrontations with wildlife and exposure to the elements. Depending on the Park, risks may involve those customary when working with or riding horses, being a passenger on a boat, working in and around historic structures, hiking on challenging terrain, and being a passenger or driver of a motor vehicle.

QUALIFICATIONS:
All qualifications must be met by the closing date of this announcement-08/13/2026-unless otherwise stated in this vacancy announcement.
Credit will be given for all appropriate qualifying experience. To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST clearly indicate the nature of the duties and responsibilities for each position, starting and ending dates of employment (month/year), and the resume must reflect full and/or part-time or total number of hours worked (i.e., work 40+ hours a week, rather than indicating full-time). To qualify for this position at the GS-07 grade level, you must possess one of the following qualifications by close of the announcement:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-05 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: Performing basic analytical work such as cost comparisons, service delivery metrics reviews, or similar analysis; Assisting higher level specialist in reviewing basic contracts, agreements, or other business-related documents; Assisting others in the preparation of business-related evaluations or reports; and/or similar administrative/analytical work supporting business practices. ou must include hours per week worked.
EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least one full year of graduate level education (18 semester/27 quarter hours). NOTE: you must include a copy of your college transcripts when qualifying based on this option. Failure to provide this documentation will make you ineligible for this position.
Superior Academic Achievement (S.A.A.) is based on one of the following: (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average, or (3) honor society member. To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess one of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as, but are not limited to, the following: Participating in developing plans for commercial services to provide services through concession contracts and commercial use authorizations; Participating in evaluations of concession operations and facilities to determine if they meet requirements and regulations; Drafting written documents, reports, and correspondence related to concessions and commercial services; Responding orally to inquiries regarding the agencys activities, mission, and goals; Monitoring commercial use authorization providers for adherence to their authorizations; and/or Processing commercial use authorizations. You must include hours per week worked.
EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least a masters or equivalent graduate degree OR two full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. NOTE: you must include a copy of your college transcripts when qualifying based on this option. Failure to provide this documentation will make you ineligible for this position.
COMBINATION: Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. As an example, I have six months of specialized experience and 27 semester hours or 41 quarter hours of appropriate directly related graduate education (50 percent of the education requirement.) . Add the percentages together. The total must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. NOTE: you must include a copy of your college transcripts when qualifying based on this option. Failure to provide this documentation will make you ineligible for this position.
Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Zion National Park is located in southwestern Utah. The climate is generally hot with daytime high temperatures ranging from 95 to 110 degrees in the summer, and 55 to 10 degrees in the winter. Nighttime lows range from 65 degrees in the summer to 10 degrees in the winter. Minimal shopping is available in Springdale, Utah, located two (2) miles from Park Headquarters. A full range of shopping, medical, dental, religious, and recreational facilities are available in Hurricane (25 miles), St. George, (45 miles), and in Cedar City, (63 miles), Utah. Elementary school (grades K-5) is available in Springdale, with bus service provided. Junior high and high school is available in Hurricane, with bus service provided. Utah Tech University is located in St. George, and Southern Utah University is located in Cedar City. Due to the desirable nature of the area surrounding Zion National Park, please be sure to research and understand the limited housing options and the areas cost-of-living.
Park/Government housing is not available for this position.
Travel, transportation, and relocation expenses will be paid if the selectee lives outside the local commuting area and is otherwise eligible for reimbursement of relocation expenses in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulation.
