Are you interested in a part-time, temporary hospitality position working at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts? Do you have customer service drive and bartending experience? We are looking for people to help us provide stellar service which compliments the cultural events we bring to the community.

Built by the people of Eugene, the Hult Center has quite an impressive history. Since its grand opening in 1982, the Hult Center has been charming audiences and popular performers alike with its stunning architectural and acoustical features. From the towering glass Lobby, the grand 2,448-seat Silva Concert Hall with its basket weave ceiling and the intimate 496-seat Soreng Theater with its intriguing asymmetrical design the Hult Center is truly a great arts facility. The Hult Center is operated by the City of Eugene's Cultural Services Division, as part of the City's Library, Recreation and Cultural Services Department.

The Concessions Worker prepares and serves a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and food to patrons of the Hult Center for the Performing Arts. Through their upbeat attitude and excellent customer service, the Concessions Worker helps create a positive experience for all Hult Center patrons.

Classification: Concessions Worker

Salary Range: $15.55 - $17.252 Hourly

The City of Eugene determines starting pay within the range based on relevant education and experience as provided by the applicant in their application materials. This process is consistent with the Oregon Equal Pay Act (OEPA).

Schedule: Part-time, schedule and hours will vary with shows and events; schedule will include evenings, weekends, and holidays; approximately 8-12 hours/week.

Examples of Duties Performed - Duties may include but are not limited to the following

Prepares all items needed for assigned bar or stand.

  • Sets up concession stands following established procedures.
  • Prepares and sells food and beverages.
  • Operates a Point if Sale (POS) system.
  • Cleans up bar and lobby areas after each event.
  • Responsible for accounting of all liquor, beer, wine, food, and souvenir items issued and moneys and charges received.
  • Reconciles inventory.
  • Supports and respects diversity in the workplace.
  • Performs related and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience

One year of customer service experience preferred.

Food service and bartending experience helpful but not required.

Background

Must pass a background check.

License

Possession of current OLCC Service Permit AND Food Handler Permits or ability to obtain permits before first day of employment.

Age

Must be at least 21 years of age.

The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

Knowledge of:

  • Beer, wine, and basic mixed drinks.
  • Proper sanitation procedures and safe food handling practices.

Skills in and Ability to:

  • Handling money; making change, and reconciliation of inventory.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Maintain a positive attitude while working with diverse customers and staff in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Interact tactfully with the public.
  • Work under pressure, maintaining professional demeanor.
  • Mix drinks or learn to do so within the first 30 days of employment.

Supplemental Information

Working Conditions

  • Requires standing, walking with frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, and twisting.
  • Frequently required to lift up to 35 pounds, occasionally lifting 36-50 pounds.
  • Ability to move bar equipment, tables and chairs.

Availability

  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be able to increase hours during busy season from September through June. Summer hours will decrease but still be required.

Uniform

  • Must provide own black pants and black shoes.

Eligibility List
