ASPHALT FOREMAN

The Concrete and Asphalt Foreman oversees daily field operations for utility construction projects, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency in all phases of concrete and asphalt work. This role involves leading crews, coordinating equipment and logistics, resolving on-site challenges, and upholding safety and quality standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Supervise and coordinate daily concrete and asphalt operations on utility construction sites
  • Lead and manage a crew, providing hands-on direction and support
  • Train and mentor less experienced workers to build team skills and knowledge
  • Promote a culture of safety, problem-solving, and continuous improvement
  • Plan and execute work according to job specifications, timelines, and design plans
  • Conduct pre-surveys of job locations to prepare for project execution
  • Coordinate with other trades and subcontractors to ensure smooth operations
  • Mobilize and demobilize equipment as needed throughout project phases
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and enforce site safety protocols
  • Monitor and inspect work to ensure it meets quality and safety standards
  • Secure job sites to protect the public, crew members, equipment, and materials
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or safety
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and paperwork
  • Read and interpret construction plans and specifications
  • Manage customer and employee relations, ensuring strong communication across all parties
  • Identify and resolve job site challenges promptly, implementing effective solutions
  • Perform miscellaneous duties to contribute to overall project success
  • All other duties assigned

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Valid driver's license CDL

  • High school diploma

  • DOT Medical Card if operating a company vehicle

  • 5+ years of concrete/asphalt experience

  • Proficient in computer skills and able to use various software

  • The physical activity required for this role includes:

  • Exposure to a range of weather conditions, including hot and cold weather

  • Walking on uneven and variable terrain

  • Sitting, standing, walking for extended periods

  • Frequently standing, walking, stooping, reaching, climbing, bending and reaching

  • lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
