Job Summary:
The Concrete Laborer is responsible for assisting with concrete and general construction activities on heavy civil and industrial construction projects. This position supports concrete crews with site preparation, concrete formwork, concrete placement, finishing operations, material handling, and jobsite cleanup while maintaining a safe, productive work environment and adhering to company safety standards and project specifications.
- Support concrete forming, pouring, placement, and finishing activities.
- Assist Form Carpenters, Concrete Finishers, Equipment Operators, and other craft personnel with daily construction activities.
- Assist with site preparation, excavation, grading, and jobsite cleanup before, during, and after concrete operations.
- Move, load, unload, transport, and stage materials, tools, equipment, and supplies throughout the job site.
- Assist with constructing, setting, bracing, and stripping concrete forms.
- Assist carpenters and finishers during concrete placements by moving hoses, handling chutes, vibrating concrete, and supporting placement operations.
- Help place reinforcing materials, anchor bolts, embeds, and other components as directed.
- Perform concrete curing, patching, cleanup, and general labor associated with concrete construction.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, and small construction equipment safely and effectively.
- Maintain jobsite safety, housekeeping, and organization in accordance with company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Follow instructions from supervisors and skilled craft personnel while completing assigned tasks efficiently and safely.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Education:
- Previous experience in concrete construction, heavy civil construction, commercial construction, or general construction.
- Knowledge of basic concrete construction practices, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and small construction equipment.
- Ability to read and follow basic construction drawings, measurements, and work instructions.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to perform physically demanding work in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, climb, kneel, crouch, and stand for extended periods.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a construction team while following direction from supervisors and skilled craft personnel.
- Strong attention to safety and compliance with OSHA and company safety policies.
- Ability to obtain and maintain security clearance to access secured facilities, including military bases, when required.
- Reliable attendance, punctuality, and willingness to work overtime or travel as project needs require.
Preferred Requirements and Education:
- Experience assisting with concrete formwork, concrete placement, and finishing operations is preferred.
Physical Demands:
- The position lifts heavy objects, walks and stands for long periods of time and performs strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- The employee lifts, pushes, pulls or carries objects; uses abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jumps, sprints or throws objects.
- The position requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multilimbed coordination.
- The position requires the ability to quickly move arms and legs.
- The employee must have excellent stamina.
