Candidates experienced as USAF/USSF acquisition officers (AFSC: 63A) or developmental engineers (AFSC: 62E) leading satellite programs in the USSF (SSC), NRO, or SDA, applying the full range of the systems engineering discipline (e.g., Requirements Development, Architecture, SE milestones: SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.), and/or DAWIA/PMI Program Management will be especially well-prepared to excel.

Job Description:

This position is for a Configuration and Risk Management Systems Engineer in Chantilly, VA supporting cutting-edge and innovative space programs. This position oversees revision control, risk assessment and the establishment of baselines. The Configuration and Risk Management Engineer will recommend and implement continuous process improvements and track risk assessment. This position requires a strong blend of technical expertise with excellent communication skills with the ability to influence change to guide the successful acquisition and operations of a critical space program.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Perform configuration management identification, control, accounting, and audits.
  • Develop and maintain customer's Configuration Management Plan.
  • Assess and allocate requests for change.
  • Review and coordinate on changes to specifications, lnterface Control Documents (ICDs) and system level requirements documentation.
  • Interface with configuration management personnel in other government offices and with development contractor to coordinate customer's assessments of requests for change.
  • Prepare and coordinate customer's requests for change.
  • Represent the customer in Enterprise and development contractor CM forums.
  • Coordinate and facilitate customer control boards (e.g. change control, engineering review, requirements review) and participation in development contractor boards.
  • Manage structure of data content in configuration management folders.
  • Attend contractor reviews (e.g. PMRs, PDR, CDR, pre- ship and other meetings) to provide technically based recommendations.
  • Identify and manage risks throughout the acquisition and systems engineering lifecycle by conducting risk assessments, developing mitigation strategies, and monitoring potential impacts on mission objectives.
  • Support development and implementation of SE process within a new program.


Qualifications
  • TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience.
  • In-depth understanding of CM practices.
  • In-depth understanding of Risk Assessment and management practices.
  • Extensive systems engineering and system integration experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, team building and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to be effective in a government/contractor team environment.
  • Experience with the Intelligence Community and/or the Department of Defense Satellite Program Office best practices.
  • Effective interpersonal skills (across multiple groups, offices, and organizations) and strong briefing and writing skills.
  • Ability to facilitate technical discussions with SMEs.
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse audience of senior decision makers with varying levels of programmatic and technical expertise.
  • Proven effective communication, coordination, and customer engagement skills .
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic, and team environment with no supervision.
  • Active TS/SCI with current Poly Required.
  • Previous SAP experience desired.
