The Configuration Manager supports the agency by being accountable for all aspects of Configuration Management for the information technology networks and systems. This position is responsible for configuration management planning, including organizing audits of the IT infrastructure, identifying unauthorized Configuration Items (CIs), and ensuring only approved and validated changes are implemented. The Configuration Manager maintains the Configuration Management (CM) database and prepares impact analysis and status reports for senior leadership.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must possess an active Top Secret (TS) clearance at the time of proposal and be able to attain Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) access by contract issuance.

  • Must be willing to undergo and pass a Counterintelligence Polygraph (CI Poly).

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

  • Must obtain/retain a government background investigation commensurate with position requirements.

  • Must have a minimum of four years of experience in Configuration Management (or eight years of experience as an educational equivalency).

  • Strong communication skills to effectively interface with military officials, managers, and subordinates.

  • Knowledge of the Military Decision Making Process (MDMP), Army Intelligence, and Microsoft Office/SharePoint.

  • Ability to manage and maintain complex configuration libraries and CM databases.

  • Skilled in conducting impact analysis for large-scale IT infrastructure changes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Establishes and maintains the CM process for the Transport Network Control Centers (TNCCs) and Transport Network Operations Center (TNOC) in conjunction with established agency change processes.

  • Documents, manages, and maintains the network hardware baseline and maintains a configuration library for network documentation identified by the local Configuration Management Board (CMB).

  • Participates in CMB planning and provides meeting minutes, highlighting any operational concerns.

  • Ensures all IT system changes are captured through the agency change management process, following the policy.

  • Validates system and site configuration data, ensuring it is maintained with 99% accuracy.

  • Updates configuration data in the database within one working day of any modification or update of infrastructure.

  • Organizes and conducts audits of the IT infrastructure to identify and remediate unauthorized Configuration Items.

  • Prepares impact analysis reports and Configuration status reports for management.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field and a minimum of four years' relevant experience in Configuration Management; OR a minimum of eight years' experience in Configuration Management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work is primarily performed in an office environment. Regularly required to sit. Regularly required use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms to handle objects and operate tools, computer, and/or controls. Required to speak and hear. Occasionally required to stand, walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Exposed to general office noise with computers printers and light traffic.
