The Role:

The Connected Car Launch Engineer is responsible for the end-to-end readiness, validation, and successful market launch of connected vehicle features and services. This role acts as the technical bridge between engineering, testing, suppliers, cloud backends, and vehicle programs, ensuring that all connected car functions (OTA, telematics, remote services, apps, diagnostics, subscriptions, compliance) are stable, compliant, and launch-ready across regions.

The engineer owns pre‑launch to post‑SOP execution, including trials, production readiness, defect triage, go‑live coordination, and early-life support.

Area of Responsibility

  1. Connected Feature Launch Ownership
  • Own the launch readiness of connected car features such as:

  • Telematics & TCU services

  • OTA (FOTA/SOTA) and Feature‑On‑Demand

  • Remote commands (lock/unlock, climate, etc.)

  • Define launch criteria, go/no‑go gates, and acceptance metrics for connected features.

  • Support multiple launch phases: Pilot, SOP, regional rollouts, and feature expansions.

  1. Vehicle, Cloud & App Integration
  • Coordinate E2E integration across:

  • Vehicle ECUs (TCU, Gateway, Domain Controllers)

  • Backend/cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)

  • Verify vehicle cloud app data flows, latency, reliability, and failover behavior.

  • Drive resolution of integration issues across SW/HW/Cloud boundaries.

  1. Testing, Validation & Trials
  • Support and track:

  • Vehicle‑level testing (HIL, SIL, CAN, network validation)

  • UAT, field trials, dogfooding, and pre‑SOP fleet testing

  • Network mode testing (ignition cycles, sleep/wake, roaming, weak signal)

  • Ensure validation across:

  • Vehicle modes and transitions

  • Regions, markets, and regulatory variants

  • Review and sign off launch validation reports.

  1. Defect & Incident Management
  • Act as launch triage focal point during SOP and early-life support.

  • Analyze defects across:

  • Vehicle software

  • Backend/cloud services

  • Drive root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions with internal teams and suppliers.

  • Raise and track critical launch blockers and risks.

  1. Supplier & Stakeholder Coordination
  • Coordinate with:

  • OEM engineering, vehicle integration, and manufacturing

  • Tier‑1 suppliers (TCU, infotainment, backend, OTA)

  • Track supplier deliverables against launch milestones.

  • Ensure alignment across global OEM, ESP, and supplier teams.

  1. Compliance & Market Readiness
  • Ensure connected features are compliant with:

  • UN R155 (CSMS) & R156 (SUMS/OTA)

  • Data privacy & cybersecurity requirements

  • Validate regional enablement (EU, NA, APAC, MEA, etc.).

  1. Launch Documentation & Reporting
  • Create and maintain:

  • Launch readiness checklists

  • Feature enablement matrices (by market/variant)

  • Present launch status, risks, and mitigations to management and customers.

  1. Post‑Launch & Continuous Improvement
  • Support early-life production (ELP) and stabilization phase.

  • Monitor real‑world telemetry, incidents, and customer issues.

  • Feed learnings into next vehicle programs, OTA releases, and process improvements.

Knowledge

  • Strong understanding of:

  • Connected car architecture & telematics systems

  • OTA platforms (FOTA/SOTA)

  • Vehicle networks (CAN, Ethernet, LIN)

  • Cloud-based automotive services

  • Experience with tools such as:

  • CANoe / CANalyzer / ControlDesk

  • Jira, Confluence

  • Log analysis & monitoring tools

  • Familiarity with AAOS / infotainment ecosystems is a plus.

Experience

  • Experience in automotive software, connected car, or EE&I domains.

  • Proven experience in vehicle SOP or feature launches.

  • Hands-on exposure to vehicle testing, field trials, and ELP support.
