The Connectivity Superintendent is responsible for overseeing field execution, installation coordination, scheduling, and workforce management for structured cabling, fiber optic, and low-voltage systems on hyperscale data center construction projects. This role ensures connectivity infrastructure is installed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications, owner standards, quality requirements, and commissioning milestones.

The Connectivity Superintendent works closely with Project Managers, QA/QC teams, commissioning agents, subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives to drive the successful delivery of mission-critical connectivity systems within fast-track hyperscale environments.

This position plays a key leadership role in maintaining schedule adherence, installation quality, workforce productivity, and turnover readiness across all connectivity scopes.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Lead day-to-day field operations for connectivity and low-voltage installation activities.
  • Supervise installation of structured cabling systems (fiber and copper), backbone and horizontal cabling, telecommunications rooms and network spaces, pathways, raceways, cable tray systems and supports, rack-and-stack and cabinet installations, grounding, bonding, and labeling systems.
  • Coordinate workforce activities to maintain installation sequencing and schedule milestones.
  • Ensure field activities comply with project specifications, manufacturer requirements, TIA/EIA standards, BICSI standards, and hyperscale owner requirements.
  • Support phased data hall turnover and fast-track construction schedules.

Schedule & Production Management

· Coordinate daily and weekly work planning with subcontractors and project leadership.

· Monitor installation productivity, manpower levels, and schedule performance.

· Identify and mitigate field constraints impacting schedule or productivity.

· Support pull-planning sessions and short-interval planning activities.

· Coordinate material deliveries, staging, and installation readiness for connectivity scopes.

· Assist with long-lead equipment and network hardware coordination.

Quality, Safety & Commissioning Support

· Promote and enforce project safety standards and site-specific safety requirements.

· Coordinate with QA/QC teams to support inspections, testing, and quality verification activities.

· Ensure installations are completed in accordance with approved drawings and submittals.

· Support testing and commissioning activities, including: fiber testing, copper certification, and integrated systems testing

· Drive resolution of deficiencies and punch-list items prior to turnover milestones.

· Support operational readiness and owner acceptance activities.

Trade & Cross-Discipline Coordination

· Coordinate with Electrical, Mechanical, Architectural, Fire Protection, and Commissioning teams to maintain proper system integration.

· Participate in coordination meetings, schedule reviews, and subcontractor planning sessions.

· Communicate field issues, schedule impacts, and resource needs to project leadership.

· Maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and client representatives.

Documentation & Reporting

· Maintain accurate field documentation, including: daily reports, installation progress tracking, manpower reporting, deficiency tracking, turnover readiness updates

· Utilize project management platforms such as Procore, BIM 360, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, or MS Project as applicable.

· Provide regular field status updates to Project Management and client stakeholders.

Requirements

· High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Telecommunications, Engineering, or related field preferred.

· 7+ years of experience supporting or leading connectivity/low-voltage scopes on large-scale construction projects.

· Prior superintendent or field leadership experience on hyperscale data center or mission-critical facilities strongly preferred.

· Strong understanding of:

· Structured cabling systems

· Fiber optic infrastructure

· Rack integration and deployment

· TIA/EIA and BICSI standards

· Data center installation sequencing and commissioning support

· Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating field installation activities.

· Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, schedules, and submittals.

· Proficiency with construction management and documentation software (Procore, BIM 360, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, MS Project).

· Strong written, verbal, and coordination skills.

Preferred Certifications

· BICSI Certification (Installer, Technician, or RCDD preferred)

· OSHA 30

· Fiber Optic Association (FOA) Certification

· Manufacturer certifications (Corning, CommScope, Panduit, etc.)

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

· Ability to work on-site in an active construction environment for extended periods.

· Frequent walking, standing, climbing ladders/stairs, and conducting field inspections.

· Occasional lifting of materials or equipment up to 30 pounds.

· Exposure to noise, dust, cabling materials, and typical jobsite conditions.

· Ability to review drawings, schedules, and digital documentation regularly.
