NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, technical, and operational support to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP).

Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee.

Duties:

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) is conducting conservation and NEPA planning to ensure compliance with the National Wildlife Refuge System Improvement Act (Improvement Act) and internal Service policy. These planning efforts will occur within the Service?s Mountain Prairie region.

  • Drafting conservation plans for various field stations, including but not limited to the following: Comprehensive Conservation Plans, Habitat Management Plans, Visitor Use Plans, Inventory and Monitoring Plans, and Fire Management Plans.   30%
  • Draft appropriate National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) analyses and other associated compliance documentation in compliance applicable federal statutes, regulations, and rules (including all changes and/or amendments).   30%
  • Assist in preparing a variety of graphic products such as brochures, posters, maps, figures, sketches, concept drawings, or other graphic products for planning processes.   5%
  • Keep an Administrative Record for services performed. The administrative record will be prepared in an excel spreadsheet and all documents must be linked to the spreadsheet.   5%
  • Asist the Service in response and analysis of comments on the draft conservation plans and associated NEPA analyses   10%
  • Coordinating with field and regional staff, as well as subject matter experts, on development of draft documents.   20%
