For over 25 years, National Experienced Workforce Solutions (NEW Solutions) has specialized in connecting experienced workers (ages 55+) with full-time and part-time job opportunities that support the critical missions of Federal Agencies across the United States. NEW Solutions connects experienced workers (ages 55+) with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS). These experienced professionals provide administrative, scientific, technical, and operational support to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service through the Experienced Services Program (ESP). Positions listed here do not guarantee employment for any definite period. Enrollment in the Experienced Worker Programs administered by NEW Solutions is temporary. The enrollment relationship between NEW Solutions and the Enrollee is an ?at-will? relationship. This means that an Enrollee is free to terminate enrollment at any time during the enrollment period, and NEW Solutions and the Agency have the right to terminate the relationship with the Enrollee. PLEASE NOTE: An ?Enrollee? is not a federal employee, nor an employee of NEW Solutions. An ?Enrollee? is a participant in a grant program established through a Cooperative Agreement funded by the agency and administered by NEW Solutions. This position is currently funded for 40 weeks. Qualifications: BA/BS Degree in Natural resources management, biological sciences, planning, or policy. MA/MS preferred with minimum additional experience of 2 year(s) in developing environmental compliance documents, land use management plans, or related documents.
Duties: This position will assist with development and completion of Compatibility Determinations (CDs), National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) compliance documentation, Endangered Species Act (ESA) Section 7 consultations, and preparing or amending hunting and fishing plans to support the Pacific Region with the 2027-2028 hunting and sportfishing annual rulemaking process. It is a Director priority to maximize openings and expansions of hunting and fishing, where compatible, throughout the National Wildlife Refuge System (NWRS). USFWS uses best available science to ensure that any new wildlife-dependent use is compatible with Refuge establishing purposes.This work includes, but is not limited to, coordinating with the refuge and regional office to research, write, and revise planning documents and shepherd them through the review and approval process both internal and external (including public notices and comment periods).
