Job Overview:  Serves as conservator of estate for voluntary and involuntary matters pending in Court proceedings. Responsible for educating Protected Persons regarding financial matters.

Create Lasting Change: The Impact You’ll Have:

  • Maintain detailed, timely, and accurate accountings of all property of the Protected Person. Files regular accountings and reports with the Court of Jurisdiction.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with financial institutions and agencies.
  • Expend portions of the Protected Person’s property, income and the principal as reasonably necessary for the support and care of the Protected Person. 
  • Invest, manage, and dispose of specified portions or all of the property of the Protected Person according to law and in a prudent and reasonable manner.
  • Exercise a high degree of care in managing the property of the Protected Person.  Liaison with Conservator of Person, and other departments providing support services – health, mental health, legal.
  • Assist with transporting Protected Person to treatment facilities, when necessary.  Work with Protected Person and other interested persons to develop a greater understanding of fiscal management, including individual and group trainings, creation of written materials and implementation of financial planning.  

Job Requirements: 

  • Combination of education and experience in financial management and/or financial advising to equal 8 years. 
  • Must be bonded or able to get bonded in accordance with applicable law.  Must be fiscally responsible.  Demonstrated experience working effective with persons of differing ages, abilities, capacities and financial sensibilities. 
  • Demonstrated experience educating individuals and groups regarding fiscal management.  Must possess excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. 
  • Valid Class D driver’s license may be required with a good driving record. 
  • This position is subject to testing for drugs (THC included) & alcohol in accordance with the Federal Department of Transportation Regulations as well as the SMSC’s Drug / THC and Alcohol Policy.
