POSITION PURPOSE:The Constitution Project Sponsor coordinates and supervises the school’s participation in the Constitution Project, an immersive civics and career-exploration program that engages students in hands-on learning experiences related to law, government, journalism, public safety, and the judicial process. The sponsor recruits and mentors students, organizes project activities, collaborates with community professionals, and ensures students are prepared for all project-related events, presentations, and competitions.

The sponsor fosters student leadership, civic engagement, critical thinking, professionalism, collaboration, and ethical decision-making through experiential learning opportunities.

CLASSIFICATION:Extra Duty

 

EVALUATION:Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with district policies.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience working with school-aged students preferred.
  • Strong organizational, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to supervise students effectively in a variety of settings and activities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, families, and community members.

Program Leadership and Supervision

  • Organize, supervise, and facilitate assigned student activities, clubs, programs, or organizations.
  • Recruit and encourage student participation and engagement.
  • Conduct meetings, practices, rehearsals, events, or activities as appropriate to the assignment.
  • Supervise students during all scheduled activities, competitions, performances, trips, and events.
  • Maintain appropriate student conduct and enforce district policies and procedures.

Student Development

  • Foster leadership, teamwork, responsibility, citizenship, and positive interpersonal relationships.
  • Encourage student growth through participation, collaboration, and skill development.
  • Promote inclusivity, respect, and a positive learning environment.
  • Support student safety, well-being, and academic success.

Communication and Coordination

  • Communicate effectively with students, families, staff, administration, and community partners.
  • Coordinate schedules, event logistics, transportation, permissions, facilities, and equipment needs.
  • Collaborate with school personnel and outside organizations as needed.
  • Provide timely updates regarding activities, expectations, and schedules.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate records related to participation, attendance, finances, fundraising, inventories, or activity documentation as required.
  • Follow district procedures regarding student eligibility, travel, purchasing, fundraising, and activity management.
  • Submit required reports, forms, and requests in a timely manner.
  • Manage assigned budgets and resources responsibly.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is an at-will position that may be terminated by either the school district or the employee, with a two-week notice period. Stipend is based on experience and aligned with the board-approved salary schedule.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Ability to supervise and actively participate in student activities and events. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by the assignment. Ability to travel with students for activities or events when necessary.
