Our client provides industrial construction, maintenance, electrical, instrumentation, HVAC, plumbing, and plant services across multiple industries, including oil & gas, chemical, food & beverage, renewables, water treatment, and manufacturing. As the organization continues to grow, they are seeking an experiencedConstruction Accountantto support their expanding operations and ensure accurate financial management of construction projects.

Position Summary

The Construction Accountant will play a key role in managing the financial performance of construction projects through accurate job costing, project accounting, Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting, and revenue recognition. This position requires someone with direct construction accounting experience who can quickly contribute in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage job cost accounting for multiple construction projects.

  • Prepare and maintain accurate Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules.

  • Monitor project budgets, costs, billings, and overall project profitability.

  • Perform project accounting and financial analysis throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Ensure proper revenue recognition in accordance with accounting standards.

  • Reconcile project costs and investigate budget variances.

  • Partner with project managers and operations teams to provide financial reporting and project insights.

  • Assist with month-end and year-end close processes.

  • Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports.

  • Maintain accurate financial data within a construction ERP system.

  • Develop and maintain reporting tools using Microsoft Excel.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting best practices.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.

  • Proven experience in construction accounting.

  • Strong knowledge of:

    • Job costing

    • Project accounting

    • Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules

    • Revenue recognition

    • Project profitability reporting

    • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with a construction ERP system.

  • Experience with Vista ERP is a plus but not required.
