Direct Hire= Construction Accountant
Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Construction Accountant to join a growing organization. This role will be responsible for managing both project-based and general accounting activities, supporting month-end close, maintaining accurate financial records, and partnering closely with operations to drive the financial success of construction projects. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong job costing expertise and hands-on experience with Yardi.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage day-to-day accounting functions, including general ledger, account reconciliations, and month-end close
Maintain and analyze project/job cost records to ensure accurate tracking of construction expenses
Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and supporting schedules
Monitor project budgets, costs, commitments, and contract activity
Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash management activities
Review and reconcile work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and construction-related accounts
Support annual audits and prepare required documentation
Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements
Partner with project managers and operational leaders to provide financial insights and reporting
Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement accounting best practices
Provide guidance or oversight to accounting staff, as applicable
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred
3+ years of accounting experience within the construction industry
Hands-on experience with Yardi software a plus
Strong understanding of job costing, project accounting, and construction financial reporting
Cost accounting experience strongly preferred
Nonprofit accounting experience is a plus
Prior supervisory or team lead experience is a plus
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, financial modeling/reporting)
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Experience:
Construction, real estate development, or property management industries
Experience supporting audits and preparing financial statements
Background working in a growing or multi-entity environment
