We're hiring an experienced Construction Accounting Specialist to join our Murrieta, CA office on a full- OR part-time basis. WHAT WE NEED FROM OUR CONSTRUCTION ACCOUNTING SPECIALIST

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• 3+ years of accounting experience
• Construction accounting experience (preferably in residential remodeling)
• Hands-on experience with job costing, budget reporting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable
• Experience with work-in-progress (WIP) reporting and cost forecasting
• Experience in preparing monthly financial statements and management reports
• Experience using construction management software (preferably Buildertrend)
• Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting
• Strong understanding of construction financial controls and cash flow management
• Knowledge of and ability to follow generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
• Familiarity with contract billing, progress billing, and retention
• High proficiency with accounting software
• Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications or similar software
• Excellent organizational skills and close attention to detail
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to analyze job profitability and margin performance
• Ability to create and maintain budgets, projections, and variance reports
• Ability to identify financial risks and provide strategic recommendations to management
• Ability to work independently and proactively

DAY-TO-DAY

Our Construction Accounting Specialist works full- or part-time between the hours of 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

You'll take care of the crucial finance functions for our office, tackling everything from accounts receivable/payable and ledger management to collections and account reconciliation. Focused on being accurate and timely, you'll prepare monthly balance sheets, income statements, profit and loss reports, and other financial reports. We're always trying to improve, so you'll also help find more efficient software and make recommendations for system improvements. As needed, you'll also help with audits, filing tax forms, and additional responsibilities to support daily organization and efficiency.
