Internship Opportunity: Construction Administrator Intern
_CMTA, a Legence Company_
About the Role
CMTA is seeking a Construction Administrator Intern to support our team during the construction phase of projects. This internship is an excellent opportunity for students interested in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems to gain hands-on experience in the field and learn how design documents come to life. You’ll work closely with experienced Construction Administrators, engineers, and project managers, and get exposure to every stage of the construction process — from pre-construction reviews to closeout.
What You’ll Learn & Do
During your internship, you’ll get to:
+ Pre-Construction: Review project drawings and specifications, attend pre-bid meetings, and gain insight into contractor pricing and bid reviews.
+ During Construction: Attend construction kickoff and progress meetings, prepare field reports, assist with commissioning efforts, and respond to RFIs with support from the design team.
+ Project Closeout: Help prepare punch lists, review contractor closeout documentation, and learn how to verify O&M manuals and as-builts.
Who We’re Looking For
+ Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
+ Interest in MEP systems and construction project delivery.
+ Strong communication skills — both written and verbal.
+ Comfortable splitting time between office and construction site visits.
+ Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam is a plus (training provided if needed).
Why Intern with CMTA
You’ll gain real-world construction experience, work side-by-side with experienced professionals, and build skills that will set you up for success after graduation. Many of our interns return for additional sessions or join CMTA full-time after completing their degrees.
