Job Summary:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and safety-conscious professional to lead our Trade and Industrial Education-Construction program. The successful candidate will facilitate instruction for the Carpentry pathway preparing students for high-skill careers in the building trades through a mix of classroom and hands-on projects.
Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver the North Carolina CTE Standard Course of Study for courses including within the 74026 License Code. This includes carpentry and possibilities of masonry, electrical, HVAC, and plumbing. • Manage a safe shop environment ensuring students adhere to all OSHA safety standards. • Direct production work activities such as building residential structures or utility buildings ensuring projects align with course competencies and local building codes. • Oversee student attainment of NCCER credentials in Construction Core and Carpentry.
Qualifications and Licensure Requirements:
Candidates may qualify through the CTE Restricted Route based on their educational background and industry experience.
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED Associate degree or Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g. Carpentry, Construction Management, Building Construction, or related trades).
Required Industry Experience: • 2 years with a Bachelor's degree. • 4 years with an Associate degree. • 6 years with a High School Diploma or GED.
Mandatory Credential: Must hold the OSHA 10-Hour Safety Construction certification prior to teaching.
Continuing Licensure Requirement: Once hired, the teacher must complete the NCCER Instructor Certified Training Program ICTP for Craft Professionals to convert to a continuing license.
