CH Construction Group is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the financial and accounting functions of our construction operations in Miami, FL.
We are looking for a hands-on financial leader who understands construction accounting, project financial performance, internal controls, treasury, and the importance of providing ownership and operations with accurate, timely, and actionable financial information.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead and oversee the company’s accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely month-, quarter-, and year-end close.
• Manage construction finance and accounting, including WIP and POC reporting, job costing, cost-variance analysis, project profitability, committed costs, cost-to-complete, and financial forecasting.
• Oversee Pay Applications (Pay Apps), AIA progress billing, retainage, construction draws, change-order financial tracking, collections, and project cash flow.
• Prepare and analyze GAAP financial statements, management reports, budgets, forecasts, cash-flow projections, and executive financial reporting.
• Monitor project budgets and actual costs in partnership with Project Managers and operations; identify margin erosion, billing issues, cost overruns, and financial risks early.
• Lead treasury activities including lender and covenant reporting, credit-facility management, liquidity management, DSO/collections, and working-capital visibility.
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliations, and multi entity consolidation.
• Maintain strong internal controls, accounting policies, SOPs, approval processes, and financial procedures that protect the company and support scalable growth.
• Coordinate external audits and relationships with accountants, auditors, banks, lenders, insurance professionals, vendors, and other financial partners.
• Provide ownership with clear visibility into project and company profitability, liquidity, cash flow, financial risk, and overall operational performance.
• Lead, develop, and hold the accounting team accountable while creating strong coordination between accounting, operations, estimating, and management.
• Drive process improvement and stronger integration of accounting, construction management, and financial reporting systems.
CORE FINANCIAL & TECHNICAL EXPERTISE
• Construction Finance: WIP POC reporting; Pay Applications (Pay Apps); AIA progress billing & retainage; job costing & cost- variance analysis; construction draw management; change-order financial tracking; project profitability; multi-entity consolidation.
• Capital Treasury: lender covenant reporting; credit-facility management; cash-flow forecasting; DSO/collections; liquidity and working-capital management.
• Controls Close: GAAP financial statement preparation; month-, quarter-, and year-end close; GL & bank reconciliation; AP/AR; external audit support; internal controls & SOPs.
• Budgeting & Analysis: budgets, forecasting, financial analysis, project cost control, variance analysis, and executive reporting.
• Systems: Sage Intacct; Sage 100/300; Procore; Textura; Corecon; Oracle ERP; Advanced Excel; Buildertrend; QuickBooks.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
• Significant Controller or senior accounting leadership experience, preferably within the construction industry.
• Strong construction accounting knowledge with direct experience in job costing, WIP/POC, Pay Apps, AIA billing, retainage, construction draws, and project profitability.
• Strong financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, treasury, cost-control, and financial reporting capabilities.
• Experience managing accounting teams and partnering directly with owners, executives, Project Managers, and operational leaders.
• Strong understanding of GAAP, internal controls, accounting processes, audits, financial reporting, and risk management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, decision-making, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
• High level of accuracy, accountability, discretion, and attention to detail.
• Ability to translate financial information into clear business insights and actionable recommendations.
• Strong vendor and client relationship skills.
• Bilingual - English & Spanish.
• South Florida construction experience highly preferred.
