Honolulu Construction and Industrial is seeking an experienced Construction Controller / Finance & Operations Manager to oversee the financial, administrative, compliance, and operational functions of our growing company.

This is a senior-level position responsible for managing the day-to-day business operations of multiple related companies while providing direct support to ownership and field operations.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, financially savvy, detail-oriented, and capable of operating independently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

1.) Financial Management & Accounting

• Full-charge bookkeeping and accounting oversight
• Accounts payable and accounts receivable management
• Multi-company accounting and cash management
• Bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations
• Financial reporting and job-cost tracking
• Monthly, quarterly, and annual closings
• CPA coordination and audit preparation
• Payroll tax filings, GE tax filings, W-2s, 1099s, and year-end reporting
• Budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis

2.) Payroll & Labor Compliance

• Weekly payroll processing for union and non-union employees
• Certified payroll preparation and submission
• Prevailing wage compliance
• Union fringe benefit reporting
• 401(k) administration
• Payroll deductions, garnishments, and benefit administration
• Labor compliance reporting

3.) Construction Administration & Compliance

• Contract and subcontract administration
• Change order tracking
• Building permit administration
• Insurance and licensing management
• Vendor compliance and document tracking
• Tax clearances and union clearances
• Asset and vehicle compliance tracking
• Project setup and closeout administration

4.) Human Resources

• Employee onboarding and personnel administration
• Benefits administration
• Employee records management
• Policy implementation and compliance
• Recruiting and hiring support
• Performance review administration

5.) Operations Support

• Project scheduling support
• Production and sales reporting
• Executive reporting and KPI tracking
• Customer and vendor communications
• Administrative support for project managers, estimators, and field personnel
• Continuous improvement of office systems and procedures

6.) Required Qualifications

• 7+ years of construction accounting and office management experience
• Strong understanding of construction job costing and financial reporting
• Experience processing payroll for construction companies
• Experience with certified payroll and prevailing wage projects
• Experience with union reporting and fringe benefit administration
• Advanced QuickBooks proficiency
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills
• Excellent organizational and communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• High degree of professionalism, discretion, and accountability

7.) Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
• Experience with Hawaii construction permitting and compliance
• Experience managing multiple entities or related companies
• Prior leadership or supervisory experience
