Job Description

The Fiber Optic Line Construction Coordinator will work closely with crews within Distribution, focusing on fiber make ready and installation across the designated service territory. This role is crucial in ensuring the efficiency and accuracy of fiber optic projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop relationships with contract crew foremen and managers to enhance project efficiency and accuracy.
• Engage with local representatives unfamiliar with fiber optic construction to foster understanding.
• Observe underground installation and make informed decisions regarding hourly versus unit-based invoicing.
• Personally verify the progress and quality of construction, providing reports to corporate representatives.
• Assist in developing workload forecasts and crew location assignments to optimize productivity.
• Monitor material usage and staging to ensure availability in the correct places and quantities.
• Produce and edit spreadsheets and electronic reports to track and forecast project progress.
• Travel extensively, working remotely using provided technology, with regular overnight travel required.
• Report to corporate headquarters at scheduled intervals for updates and consultations.

Essential Skills

• Experience in construction, construction management, and project management.
• Knowledge of power delivery, telecommunication, and electrical design.
• Skills in project coordination, especially related to fiber make ready and distribution.
• Understanding of electrical distribution and project management in construction.
• Ability to apply and manage performance to regulations such as OSHA, ADEM, MUTCD, and City standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in field operations related to fiber optics or utility distribution is highly desired.
• Experience with GPC is preferred; secondary preference for general utility support within the telecommunications field.
• Experience in power utilities is beneficial.
• Familiarity with invoicing processes.

Work Environment

The role requires 90% fieldwork, managing and inspecting projects, with occasional reporting to corporate offices for progress meetings. Hours may vary, typically up to 40 hours a week, with some weeks having abbreviated hours. No specialized medical monitoring or PPE is required. A company-provided laptop and connectivity will be used for remote work.

This is a Contract position based out of Macon, GA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $50.00/hr.
